Not solid brass. My need was for non-magnetic Brass. I should have read more accurately. Is alloy Steel with Brass Finish. My mistake for not reading closely enough. I'll use it for my construction projects but search for a solid brass one.

The plumb bob works as intended. The brass is only a finish and there is some rust on the inside of the cap but it shouldn't affect the use of it. The packaging was somewhat damaged (chipped/cracked plastic) when it arrived but the plumb bob itself was in good shape.

This will likely work, but I doubt I'll get a year out of itIt arrived:-pitted-top cap doesn't close all the way (big deal imo, if the teeth wiggle loose, it won't be plumb) seems to be made separate alloy to the plumb bob itself.-removal tip is adequate, but it doesn't line up with the plumb bob exactly (kind of wavy)-packaging arrived punctured near the tip.Feels like I likely received a reject plumb bob. I'll likely run it, but pretty good chance I'll just replace it with a seco one, or another one from a survey store that I can inspect in person. Disappointed.

Great weight and can’t beat the price. Just hate the tip that unscrews and super sharp. Will puncture.

I guess you don't often think of a plumb bob as handsome but this one is. High polish may not help it do it's job of hanging down to indicate the exact spot that is below whatever you hang it on. But damn, it looks good doing it. Kidding aside it is well machined and the steel point is replaceable. Just in case it hits the concrete below at a high rate of speed. I use it most often to install rifle scopes and occasional chores like setting a post for the rain gauge. A medium weight bob like this is handy for most things encountered by DIY folks. I suppose the heavier bobs might be less sensitive to wind out doors.

It does what you want with no problems, the tip is sharp and removable/replaceable. Very well constructed, should last about forever, this does NOT include any string, so be sure to buy that as well or you will be heading to the store! For the money this is a great item if you have the need for it, you should get it.Hope this review helped you out..
