The old one comes off with a trox socket and a hex socket, not the new one the old trox is now a hex head hidden behind the shock asorber, there is almost no way to get a box wrench in there to tighten, I took a 7/16 box whench and heated it up an made a 90 degre bend in it in order to tighten the bolt, (hint be kind to yourself and run a tap #8 x25 tap to clean up the threads first.)They should make everyone involved with new style to install 100 of them and then ask them if they could find a better way to do it.

This item was difficult to install. Its a john deere issue. Location was hard to get my hands into. Took some time to install. I may have been able to take some other parts off to help with the install but I didn't. The shock works great once installed

I saw some bad reviews online saying that this was hard to install. It's only slightly more difficult than the original. There's a little metal pin /clip that holds it together. Take that pin off. Use a long socket to screw the bolt in. Put it all together. Put the pin in. Good to go! I spent about 30 minutes on it. That included taking the tire off and putting the tire back on.
