This toy is awesome. While I was using it, it definitely felt like a real but miniature chainsaw. The handle and on/off controls are in the same place as many electric chainsaws. My kid loved it.The toy chains do move but they're encased in a clear plastic case so it's really safe. There are also some exaggerated sounds. The removable battery is also very realistic, for a toy.The only warning I would give is that it definitely falls in the category of loud stress-inducing noisy toy. Those have their place but just keep that in mind. Thank God for that removable battery.

We have multiple John Deere Kids toys and they are all great quality. This little chainsaw is equally a quality made toy. The rotating chain is super neat and very realistic with the removable battery pack. Our toddler loves this chainsaw and has provided lots of fun and imagination.

This review is for the John Deere Power Tools Chainsaw Toy. The toy, not the bar!, is about 17” long and is quite lightweight. When you press the trigger it makes a sound like you’re starting the engine and the chain spins. As long as you are holding the button the chain spin and it sounds like it’s revving and cutting through a log. When you release the trigger it makes an idle sound for about 10 seconds before turning off. The chain is enclosed in a clear plastic case. Almost immediately we found that the chain is getting stuck on something in the case so it’s not spinning but instead is stuck in place and making a loud vibrating noise- it’s trying to spin. Because of my experience I would not highly recommend this toy.

This was fantastic. The best thing is the sound while obviously a toy is pretty good and about as close to realistic as a toy can get. The kid had tons of fun pretending to cut things outside. The blade rotatoes but has a guard that cannot be removed. At first I thought it made it slightly less realistic but considering they can't mess up the blade, I think it is going to give it a much longer life.

This is the perfect toy for pretend play and to build fine motor skills. Most kids want to "help" when they see Mom or Dad doing a chore. That's why they have mini rakes, shovels, grocery carts etc. Of course things like a chainsaw or electric drill are too dangerous for a young child which is why I appreciate these learning toys so much. You can teach children from a very young age the dangers and give them a safe option that's made with care and quality. This John Deere Toy chainsaw is very well made. The plastic is thick and solid. There are no sharp points or edges. The size and weight are just right for a small child. There are lots of cool functions. You just hold down the trigger and this lights up and makes chainsaw sounds. The spinning plastic "chain" really moves. The plastic "blade" and chain are completely encased in clear thick plastic. You can tell that this toy was built with safety in mind. It also has a removable battery pack so if you want a silent toy you have both options which I love. I'm very happy with this toy and would definitely recommend it. Five stars!
