Simply Speakers New-Edge-It Speaker Repair Kit for JL Audio 10W7 Subwoofer

Repair Kit for JL Audio 10W7

Part Number: FSK-10JL-W7-1

The most common problem with JL Audio 10W7 subwoofers are rotted, torn or damaged surrounds. The surround is the outer suspension part of the cone. Constant vibration, time and the environment cause the surrounds to degrade. This causes distortion and poor performance. Luckily, our easy to install repair kits will make your old speakers sound just like new!

Detailed Size Chart

Detailed Sizing:

  • Outer diameter: 10.5" (267mm)
  • Roll outer diameter: 10.375" (264mm)
  • Cone diameter: 7.375" (187mm)
  • Inner diameter: 6.75" (171mm)

JL 10W7 surround replacement was pretty easy to install. I removed the old one using acetone and a sharp blade. The most difficult part was removing the original center cone adhesive. I used a hair dryer to warm up the polypropylene and gently used a larger flat blade screwdriver… I would recommend using a sharpie to mark the exact location of the W7 logo onto the frame of the woofer. I did not do that and “tried” to get it back in the same location and it’s slightly off… so when I reinstalled the W7 into the box, it looks misaligned. Otherwise, the sub sounds as perfectly as it did when I bought it 15 years ago. Good as new!

Bought this W7 foam kit for my 10” sub. Take your time and follow the directions. Ensure the glue surfaces are clean using alcohol on a microfiber rag. Also ensure to let the glue cure overnight as instructed on their online videos and you will have a sub that sounds just as good as when you got it new. Reapplying the retention ring, from my experience was not as an issue as others stated in their reviews.

This is such a great product. I've had my w7s for about 10 years now. The foam cone on one of them deteriorated really badly about a year ago. I currently have the other in my car now (new car, 1 sub setup vs 2), but will replace the foam on that one soon too. Repair was easy, everything fits (the rings and all that stuff). Watch the tutorial video on YouTube too, it is a very handy resource. 5 stars!

The glue ever ties that it’s black but it’s actually clear and not very easy to work with. It’s more like cement glue when I would think it would be more like silicone
