Dunlop 220 Chromed Steel Slide

Love these slides! Great weight and sustain, scratchproof, shatterproof, extremely consistent quality, and never gonna shatter on your pinky and cut your other fingers. Price has gone up even faster than that postpandemic inflation that was going around — doubled in only 3 or 4 years, so I dinged it a star on value. But it's virtually indestructible, which means the purchase will last until you lose it or get it stolen. Fender's equivalent slide is so similar I can't reliably tell them apart, so price them both and go with the cheaper one. Dunlop slides are usually easier to find.

I have a collection of slides and tone bars and this one is my favorite for playing slide on my guitar , it has the right weight and feel for me, and fits my little finger perfectly.

My grandson liked this for his birthday before a more expensive item. Watch the size of finger for fit. Works well, sounds awesome.

The quick review. Good, I'm happy with it. It runs a little small, chrome coating on the inside is shallow and inconsistent.Dunlop has a wide range of slides in various sizes and materials, and at reasonable prices. On the Dunlop website, the individual product pages are weak on sizing details. Be sure to view their Product Manual PDF, which is really a helpful chart of their slide products and how they correspond to ring sizes. Most of the slides on the chart span two ring sizes. For example the 220 9 and 10. It's not entirely clear if the slide is a 9.5 or a 10. I ordered a half size up from what I thought I needed. The product packaging says 9 ring size, inside 19mm, and I would say that's about right. The chrome coating on the inside is shallow and consistent with rather abrupt changes in depth coverage. In some instances only 1/16 of an inch. On average about 3/16 of an inch. Some guitarists might prefer this matte finish on the inside of the slide. It feels and looks unfinished to me. I'd prefer more thorough chrome coverage on the inside as chrome is less likely to rust and easier to clean.

This is my new favorite, it's the only one I carry now. I have used a lot of slides, my previous favorites were the Dunlop mudslide and the Rev Willy. I bought this one because I had just built a guitar with a steel neck and I didn't want to break my glass or ceramic slide if I accidentally banged it against the steel neck. I soon realized this slide is lighter and less bulky and I could move it faster and more accurately. My vibrato improved immediately and my fingers felt lighter and quicker with this slide. And this slide is by far the cheapest of the dozen or so I have around. Cheap, fast light, indestructible, this is the only slide I will probably ever use from now on.Some reviews downgraded this one because of fit. That is a problem with any and all slides. None of the manufacturers give you anything reliable to go on as far as size. All I can say is that this one in medium fits my small adult male hands perfectly. It's cheap enough that you can get another size if you guess wrong and still spend half of what you would on a ceramic slide.

Ring size 9 is incredibly small despite what some people have been saying. Now, I don't have exactly small fingers, but they're not that large either. The slide itself is quite nice, and works well however they don't point out in the description its size! Only people with very skinny fingers or those who only slide with their pinky would want this particular item.
