I bought a new power supply to see if I can rig it brighter, but the wire is quite dim. Recharges on USB micro which is out of date and is not a single long strand like I had thought. It’s two separate lengths

16’ for $12? Not bad. I stitched this into my festival pack and it works nicely. I wish the little red LED could be turned off but, oh well. The power supply box seems sturdy enough, but I’m still gonna wrap it with something so I don’t break it. Not bright enough for day use, but it gives a pleasant glow in the evening. I still have a lot left over. Btw, don’t cut the wire with scissors or nail clippers. Use wire cutters.

When my kid showed me a drawing of something I can only describe as a cyberpunk furry 10 days before Halloween this year and requested that I somehow magically produce something similar in that time frame, I was a little intimidated by the task. So, off to the internet I went to try and figure out how to do it that would be 1) FAST 2) easy-ish and 3) cheap.I’ve never used EL wire for anything before, but it was inexpensive, delivered quickly and I found lots of helpful tips and videos on using the stuff online, so I figured it was worth a shot.It was much easier to use than I expected it to be and my kid is still (even at 17) convinced I’m some sort of craft wizard (he was super pleased with the results), so I’m claiming it as a win.A few quick notes/tips:* use some washi tape, yarn or regular wire to plot out your design before you start trying to bend and adhere the EL wire to your project. This isn’t really a “wing it” type project material.* get a much longer wire than you think your project will require. You can always cut off the excess or leftover length from the end, and you’ll be surprised how much you actually use.* Be patient and look for tutorials online to find the best options for attaching the wire to whatever material you’re attaching it to.* don’t forget to plan in a pocket, pouch or strap to attach the battery pack in a discrete location to your project.

Not bright at all, would not recommend

Setup was pretty simple and it adhered well to the tape I purchased, however, the strip doesn't stay lit for more than 10 minutes at a time before turning off. I tested with different batteries just to make sure. After just a few days of very mild use (30 mins max per day), the lights became very dim and refuse to stay on for more than 10 minutes at a time, as stated previously. I didn't notice sooner since I use the neon tubes sparingly. I'm now out of $22 because the tape is wasted on a defective product and can't be reused. I would easily give this product 5 stars if it actually worked properly, but it doesn't. Very disappointing.

At first glance, this little wire may look unimpressive but it packs a punch where it matters... brightness. The neon blue is very vibrant and is perfect for highlighting the characteristics of this banana. I included the banana in the photo for scale. The light and battery pack combo is about the size of the banana. The light itself is many times brighter than a banana. When it is unraveled, the light can encircle the banana 8x’s. Note: banana is not included in purchase- if you want to use this product in conjunction with a banana, you’ll have to provide your own. Will it work with other fruit? I don’t know, probably, but I haven’t tried. I’ll let you be the judge of that.
