As an older player, I’m ashamed I haven’t learned of these before. Eases the tension in my right hand & places the thumb more correctly with a cushion. Would recommend to any level any age flautist.

It works as intended, but slides out of position easily, especially when playing gets intense.

These are lovely I'm that they are a soft silicone design. The hard plastic ones are not so comfortable even if they do help with some issues. I can't speak to if they hold up long term as a recent purchase. But fairly inexpensive & a pack of 3!

Tried on 2 Silver metal flutes with standard bore. Works, but too bulky to be comfortable and had to be removed each time flute is stored in case for good fit. Excels over harder but thinner plastic more expensive popular competition in preventing scratching the flute finish. Better off just using thin precut furniture protection pads bumpers with adhesive.

These are great. I'm primarily a sax player. I have big hands and they always cramp up playing flute. These thumb rests totally solve the problem. They are thicker than Bo Pep and softer to the touch. They provide stability and feel securely attached to the instrument.

As a professional music teacher and flutist, I believe that these silicone cushions are an adequate substitute for Bo Pep flute cushions. Bo Peps are useful finger/hand supports for players, however they are made out of plastic and can scratch the surface of the flute. I find that Bo peps are closer to the flute's surface compared to these silicone cushions, which are more elevated and raise .5 cm off the flute. I wanted a softer option for my instrument (to prevent scratching) so I gave these cushions a try. Overall, I am very happy with these cushions, and I would personally give them a 5 star review, however there are valid customer complaints about getting these cushions to stay, to which I discuss a solution below. The need for the extra craft supply to get the product to stay is why I gave the cushions 4 stars. Here are the things to consider: These cushions raise .5 cm above the flute (which is higher than the traditional Bo Pep brand). These cushions have not scratched my flute because they are soft; however, as some customers have noted, these cushions do not cling onto the flute (because of the material compared to hard plastic) and therefore can shift while playing. I have a heavy wall .18'' flute, and the cushions shift a bit-especially for the one that supports the left-hand shelf. So the cushions definitely shift around on a standard .16'' wall or slim .14'' wall instrument.I experimented using tack-it over and over adhesive to make glue dots to put on the inside of the cushions to prevent them from shifting. The homemade glue dots have done the trick, and the cushions do not shift. (I used Aleene's Tack-It Over and Over brand to make the glue dots). The glue dots thatI made with Aleene's have not left a mark on my silver flute, and I have left two cushions on the instrument while sitting up vertically on a peg stand for a month. Thus, I will happily keep using the glue dot and cushion pair. It's also easy to take the cushions off to put the flute away in its case, and put the cushions back on when I am ready to play again. I like the .5 cm thickness for my left hand shelf, and for my right thumb. These cushions feel more ergonomic because of their taller height and help reduce my finger strain. I also want to note that I have an in-line G key on my instrument, and the cushion helps reduce the extra ring finger stretching strain to cover the open hole on the G key. I do caution that you try the glue dot alone in a discrete spot on your own instrument just to be safe because your flute's material might have a different reaction to the glue dot.

Bought these for my daughter as her thumb kept slipping while she played the flute. Both her teacher and private instructor commented on how well it helped her. Doesn’t seem to slip much either. Definitely a great buy.

I liked the softish cushioning of the material, but between the flexibility of the material and the fact that the “wings” don’t encircle the body of the flute as much as they might, it slides out of place while playing and drops off easily. Double stick tape might solve this, but i’m not willing to use it on my instrument.

I saw this in a cleaning kit but I already had the swabs that worked great so it was not worth busting a whole new kit, I found this on Amazon and ordered it. It worked well for getting my thumb back into place and keeping my had in the C position. I do have to say that it was incredibly bulky and uncomfortable at times but overall it is supposed to be big.
