Jerusalem Artichoke AKA Sunchoke, is a delicious highly nutritious root vegetable. Cook the same as potatoes. Or, you can plant the tubers to grow your own food and enjoy a bountiful harvest. They produce beautiful, fragrant, golden yellow daisy-like flowers in late-summer and come back year after year. How sweet is that?

I started these on my windowsill because it’s still a bit cold outside (zone 9) and the first time I tried them (last year) some animal came and dug them up! I’m delighted to see that they’re sprouting and I can’t wait for it to be warm enough to plant them outside (they prefer 50 degrees or warmer, we aren’t quite there yet). Just follow the directions and remember they like well-draining soil so you might want to mix in some perlite.

Sent out of season and arrived frozen, was moldy in two weeks, can not use any of them now. big waste of money for me. only four small roots, big price for little value. not buying thing from these folks again. instructions were for a two year old and didn't say anything about having to get them out of the packaging if delivered in winter. really mad!!!

I am interested in perennial plants, both flowers and vegetables and am adding these to my garden to see what happens. They are perennial "sunflowers" so should be pretty as well as edible. These are aggressive spreaders, so it is recommended to put them into a limited space situation where they rhizomes will be stopped at a certain point. Big tubs might be good.At this point I can only speak the the good quality of the rhizomes received, the speed of shipping and the good packaging. Would for sure order from this seller again if I decide to get more!
