Makes a clean engraving in hardwood. Use it to engrave wood with my Shaper Origin.
Why lie about shipping time?

I design in Vectric Aspire which allows me to carve in 3d relief. This bit is my third tool and gets in all the places that the larger bits cannot hog out. On this ten inch topical bowl I first used a .25 end mill, a .25 ball mill, and then the Jerray bit. (followed by a 60 degree vbit for the type, and a .25 em for the cut out). I use an eight percent stepover and it works just great. Takes some time, though, because an 8% stepover on a 1mm bit is just plain slow. Machine time is typically 2 hours @ 60 ipm.

If you want to cut detail without risking a snapped bit, this will be your ticket home. This thing is tough, and it cuts great. There will be some sanding on ply required, but cutting in bamboo it's clean as it gets. My Dewalt 611 stopped during a job when the brushes wore out, I heard the bit dragging on the work. I stopped the job and raised the router, bit had no problem!! Worth every penny.

Tapered CNC Bit.Works very so far. I am not sure how durable it will be. So the longevity of the bit may be an issue. I have not used it enough to report on ‘‘tis part. Speed and Travel are a concern I have found.

I use this bit for fine detail work on my hobbyist CNC machine. Vectric Aspire is my design program and I have an Inventables X-Carve CNC.Rather than create all my own designs, I often download designs from Vectric's Design and Make website. Of course, you have to pay for the designs, but, I wouldn't be able to easily create them myself. After downloading, you have specify the "tooling" (CNC bits) to be used to carve the complete design. This usually includes using a larger, 3/16 or 1/4 inch end mill to clear large areas. Then, you use a smaller, finer, bit to machine the detail. I like to use "ball-end" bits for a smoother, detail finish and have several sizes up to 1/4 inch. The Vectric design software is very good at showing you the "finished" carving based upon the bit selected. Generally, there is a tradeoff - speed (the amount of time needed to carve) versus detail. Even a bit as small as 1/16 inch in diameter is usually not enough for me so I use this 1 mm diameter Jerray. Carve times with this bit tend to be 2 plus hours for the relatively small plaques (4 X 8 inches) I tend to carve.I'm starting to "standardize" on "name" brand bits like Jerray, Yonico, and Amana. I'm sure "bargain" bits have a place, but my significant "time" investment in a carving doesn't seem to warrant a mis-carve due to a bit that breaks or comes loose or requires a lot of hand sanding afterward.

I bought this bit along with a few others for use in my CNC router. Even after several projects there's no sign of wear or cracking and the bit is still sharp. A great bit at a great price. I highly recommend Jerray tools.
