The JENSEN CD-490 is a stylish, compact, and portable CD player with AM/FM stereo radio. The unit features a top loading CD player which is CD-R/RW compatible, has programmable memory, and a bright red LED display with function indicators. The sound is very nice for a little boombox. I love it. It is pretty as well. I bought it for my cat so when I am out, she has music. She cries when it is too quiet. She realizes that she is alone.

It’s ok for what you pay. Radio still going strong but not the greatest dial when trying to find a station. CD player died on me somewhere in the 5-6 year range.

I bought this to fill a specific purpose of a cd player that could be operated by batteries alone. It works for that just fine and didn’t run through batteries too quickly. You can’t expect amazing sound quality in a device like this and I didn’t. But it works as well as I hoped it would. Perfect for my daughter to take to sleep away camp where no Bluetooth devices are allowed. (The only hard thing is finding cd’s she wants to listen to!)

I was looking to replace my Mom's old CD player which quit working. This portable CD/ AM/AF Stereo is perfect. My Mom is older, and this product is very simple to use. The sound is very good. My Mom wanted something simple to use so that she can listen to her Christmas and classical CDs.We are very happy with our purchase.

I bought a blue one & it's beautiful. I've used a Jansen before. The sound is really good. Only problem: I bought it for my father's memorial. The description stated that it takes 6 "C" batteries. WRONG! I had bought a pack of 8, then an additional 4, thinking 12 was enough for an emergency. Unfortunately, it takes 8 "C" batteries. I had to go buy more. I had it all planned out. I know I probably sound whiney, but I needed everything to go smoothly. So far, the internment planning has been nuts! The misinformation about the quantity of batteries is the only reason, I gave it 4 stars. I can't use the AC cord, because there will be no outlet outside, where the internment is being held, so I'm heavily depending on the batteries. Oh well.This IS a nice boombox. The size is perfect for perfect for my needs (I didn't need it to be too large). The blue one is gorgeous (Royal Blue). They have red & black also. I received it quickly. It's easy to figure out the functions on the device. It's definitely a keeper!

I'm very pleased with this boombox that I purchased to replace another brand that was defective, so I held my breath hoping the Jensen would work. It's easy to set up, controls are easily understood, it's attractive, and, in my opinion, the sound is very good quality. I wanted it for my arts and crafts room and with the volume raised a little, it can be heard clearly all over our 1550 sq. ft. home. Make sure you plug in the electric cable in the boombox before connecting to electrical outlet when not using batteries. I didn't do that the first time I used it and it was loose and would not play. This is a great little boombox for the money.

I know I've gone beyond my return date by one month but this is the first time that I took it out of the box to play a CD for my grand daughter and it doesn't work plugged in or by battery. So say.

This product was awful ! Amazon should not sell it. Any positive comment about the product might be by a Jensen employee. The tuner knob does not illuminate any radio stations call number where it should. It only displays if the CD is recognized, at which point the number of songs on the CD are displayed. If it does not read a CD, "NO" is displayed. To find your favorite radio station, it is necessary to wait for a radio station to announce its call letter. At that point the tuner knob can be turned ever so slightly to the next station, and repeat the process of waiting to hear the call letters again. With continued repetition of these steps, eventually the desired station will be found.The CD player would too frequently get stuck and just play over and over the same thing. More than 3/4 of store-bought CD's would not play. All but a couple of my many, many burned CD's would not play. Two at the most would play.Hopefully, you will take my suggestion to heart. It is this model that is ineffective. I worked at a Philips Magnavox return center in the late '90's, and certain models were consistently returned, that is why I make the statement it is the model. It is the inexpensive parts that go into the product. There are quality circuit boards and extremely less quality circuit boards that use cheaper materials that makes the product able to sell for much less money.Having to go through the effort of returning an item simply adds another aggravation to the day. My suggestion would be to spend another $25.00 and try the Sony. Target, Walmart and other stores throughout the United States would send all brand of electronics, not just Magnavox to the return center. I determined the employee just didn't care to send it to the correct manufacturer. Once in a blue moon a Sony would be sent. That old saying is true, and I experienced the ole cliche', "You get why you pay for."

La compré por $550 como regalo para mi suegra a quien le gusta mucho escuchar música (a un volumen "decente") y porque, dada su edad, se le complican mucho usar los sofisticados aparatos o mini-componentes que se venden actualmente.Ella sólo quería algo donde pudiera poner y sacar sus CD's favoritos sin complicaciones (ya tiene problemas con su vista) y este aparatito le resultó perfecto para ese propósito.Cuando se lo di a mi suegra y mientras le explicaba de forma muy breve su funcionamiento, pude comprobar lo siguiente:_ Para el tamaño y precio de este aparato, me sorprendió que el sonido es bastante bueno! Muy nítido y balanceado._ Su pantalla muestra la pista que se está reproduciendo y es lo suficientemente grande e iluminada como para que mi suegra lo vea perfectamente._ Sólo reproduce CD's originales. Nada de discos piratas (a pesar de que dice ser Compatible con CD-R/RW)._Tampoco reproduce discos con música en formato MP3's._ La recepción de radio es bastante decente aunque, dada la limitante de la visión de mi suegra, si le resulta complicado ver, en el pequeño dial de este aparto, la estación en la que está... lo cuál resultó irrelevante, pues el propósito siempre fue que el producto fuera usado como un reproductor de CD's y no como un aparato para escuchar la radio.En resumen, mi suegra está encantada con su aparatito y yo también, pues la relación "precio/calidad" superó por mucho mis mejores expectativas, aunque debo aclarar que esta reseña la estoy escribiendo varias semanas después de la compra y las 5 estrellas las otorgo en base a esa relación "precio/calidad" basado en que me costó $550 pesos... pues ahora estoy viendo que el precio de este reproductor ya supera los $1,600 pesos y creo que, a ese precio, hay mejores opciones y, si me baso en ese precio actual, mi calificación hubiera sido de 3 estrellas a lo mucho.
