I purchased this Trailer Brake Control Module because an OEM part was not available. I figured this after-market was worth the gamble since it was a fraction of the price. Once installed it did work but only if I applied the trailer brake manually. It didn't seem to work at all when I applied the vehicle brakes unless I hit them hard like you would in an emergency stop. At a slow roll, with the vehicle brakes lightly applied, the trailer brakes would come on full after a few seconds. This never happened at higher speeds but I was always afraid my trailer would brake when I didn't want them to. Also I would have to remove the fuse if I parked the truck for a few days as the unit would drain the battery even when the key was off. I verified the power draw with a meter. I returned the unit within 30 days and received a refund. I obtained and installed the OEM which works perfectly. The OEM does not drain the battery. I can not recommend this brake controller. It does not work like the original.

After the first use it started telling me my trailer was disconnected then connected. But when I tested the actual controller it gave me no output...so didn't matter if it was reporting the trailer connected or disconnected it didn't operate my brakes in either condition. Only had this controller for about a week.

Not sure what’s going on I programmed the truck with for scan and everything is installed right but truck says trailer disconnected and the brakes will only work if you squeeze the test buttons will show gain and everything on the dash but just doesn’t work as it should. Found this out as I was pulling out for a 19 hour trip

I bought this controller in sept of 2022. After the installation I found that I kept getting messages about the trailer disconnecting. I then replaced the 7blade /4blade connection on the rear of the truck thinking that was the issue. This did not resolve that. All of a sudden a couple days ago my trailer gain kept popping up as soon as I started my truck. Then was notified by another driver that my brake lights were stuck on. I replaced the brake light switch at the pedal thinking this had failed. Yeah no, after a bunch of troubleshooting, I finally just disconnected the brake controller and my issues are resolved. DO NOT BUY!! Everyone knows how much dismantling of your dash has to be done to install this unit. Now I will have to do it again.. Ridiculous.

Didn't work. Killed the battery in my truck overnight. Didn't work. Save the aggravation and just buy from Ford.I installed this and updated the IPC module and YES the fuse was already in it. The - gain button had to be held or it would actually add gain as displayed in the truck and when you press the manual activation it displayed nothing. How do I know it should have displayed "No Trailer" because when I put the FORD on in the truck it worked properly. RUN RUN RUN AWAY

It makes the trailer brakes lock up there is no difference between 0.5 gain and 9.5 gain first I thought it was my trailer but I have a new trailer and it locks up at about 10mph just like the old trailer

You'd be better off spending the extra money and getting a genuine OEM part. This one doesn't register and show when manual trailer brake pressure is being applied via the lever. And when you have the brake gain set to 0.5 and up, trailer brakes are locked up. It allows you to change the gain from 0 to 10, but applies full pressure at all intervals except 0. There is a reason these ones are cheaper... I ended up ordering an OEM one from eBay and swapped it out, and sure enough that one worked perfectly. Returning this garbage.
