This is my third Ryoba saw I’ve owned in my time, and it’s unquestionably the best. Very Sharp, very Comfortable to handle, and definitely a great looking tool. My second favorite feature is how the teeth on the rip side of the saw gradually decrease in size and spacing as it gets closer to the handle, making the initial pull much smoother as you begin. but the best part of this saw is the size. I probably should’ve taken note of the dimensions when I placed the order, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it to find it’s about 50% bigger than my other Japanese saws. It feels like I’m holding a sword. I reckon it’s big enough for timber framing, though I’ve only used it for building furniture this far. Great tool. Great results. Very pleased with it.

Brilliant and accurate cutting was worried about flexibility of blade but doesn't affect cutting at all would defo recommend

I've had this a little while now before reviewing it. I'm no DIY god or the like but I've had recent reason to be cutting up some various blocks of wood for small 'fixes' around the house and I got this not being familiar with this kind of straight handled saw style and not sure how it would work. It's priced at AU$64.80 now and I've spent more than that on saws that were junk, so I wasn't really expecting much. What I can say is that for the small things I was doing with it, it made the work easy as can be. It seemed to cut so smoothly compared to most saws I've used and left a lovely clean cut more like a power saw than a hand saw. (This is where all astute DIYers and experienced carpenters are groaning at me know I'm sure)It seems like a quality level above what I'll need given how little such work I do but it surprised me at how useful it was the few times I've used it, so I'm very happy to have it.

I recently used the Temple Tools Japanese Pull Saw, and it exceeded my expectations! It was incredibly easy to assemble, and the quality of the cuts was perfect. The pull motion made it effortless to use, even on precision tasks. Highly recommend this tool for anyone looking for clean, precise, and easy woodworking!

Really nice saw, but trust the tool and don't try to muscle it, move gently and let the tool do the cutting for you.

I already own a folding saw for making joinery cuts. It is a very different build with a folding blade, thick handle, locking blade with a reinforcing spine that runs along the top. It has been interesting to compare the pros and cons of the folding and flat blade saws. When it comes to precise control of the cut, the folding saw is much better. It has finer teeth that bit smoothly when initiating the cut and move predictably through the material. The spine along the top of the blade adds a lot of stability as does the thick solid handle. The flat blade of the Ryoba can still make accurate cuts, but its flexibility requires more concentration and the courser saw teeth hang up more on the material. The Ryoba flat blade does have some advantages. The course blade for rip-cuts is quick, yet still has decent control. Also, the lack of a reinforcing spine means the blade can make deep cuts, completely through thick pieces of wood. Also, being flat, the blade can make flush cuts to remove dowels or other joinery that extends past the face of the wood.It is nice to have both saws as each has its strengths. Overall, the Temple Tool blade appears well made with a strong handle attachment and quality materials. It makes sense to have a saw design that originated and was perfected in Japan, manufactured in the country of its origin.

If you shop Japanese pull saws, you know there are endless low-cost low-value products out there. Temple Temple Tool Co is not some reseller or mass producer. These saws were meticulously designed by people who use them every day. It really shows. They have mastered the low-cost aspect, while providing an excellent high quality tool. I have only made a few cuts with this bad boy, but I can already tell it's going to be a new favorite. I particularly enjoy all of the education they provide around each saw, and its recommended techniques. Would give the company and product 10 stars if I could!
