It seems to be working. A bit hard to install (as I assume all are) but very easy to follow instructions.Do not take out the cardboard like I did (and had to put back) that is the insulation. I would have preferred something more ugh fire proof

Product seems pretty cheap, if your building your own I assume you want nice materials so do not recommend this product, but hey it works.

I purchased these lamp kits to make a lamp of some gallon jars I have also written a review for. The lamp kit is one of those, "you get what you paid for" kind of products.They work fine, and go together well, but the instructions were bland, and they require you to deform the product in order to take it apart. Be careful putting it back together and ensure that you put it together correctly. If you don't, like I did, you may have a hard time taking it back apart because your Sasquatch hands forced it together too tight and required a pair of pliers in order to separate it.For the price, it was well worth it. If you're looking for a high quality product, spend a few extra bucks.

Amazon was the only place I could find a make-a-lamp kit that was not brass colored. I wanted satin nickel, and this "pewter" color is basically the same as satin nickel. The harp and components are brushed/satin finish but the finial is a shiny chrome finish. No biggie to me though. I was very pleased to find this kit in the nickel/pewter color I was looking for - it was not available in any of the big box hardware stores or even on their websites! The cord with my kit measures approximately 9 feet long. The one thing I can be critical of with this product was that the directions were not great. A pictorial would have been helpful. If the link doesn't work, find a similar item by Westinghouse on Home Depot's website and click on the instructions/assembly link. Some reviewers complained that this item was flimsy - you do have to completely press the socket pieces together; once that's done it is secure.

Very simple to install - my girlfriend and I were unhappy with the bronzed color of our lamp's metal, so we decided to buy this kit to replace the hardware with a silver colored type. Worked as prescribed and the instructions were very helpful. You don't need to be an electrician to do this job!

The it is very complete and includes most parts you would need to make a lamp. For my project, I needed a longer lamp pipe (hollow threaded rod). The socket and harp are of pretty good quality. I needed satin nickel to achieve the look I was going for but was only able to fine brass or chrome in the local big box stores, so I'm glad I found this kit.

I searched the internet as well as the big box stores for a lamp kit that was nickel or pewter (most were brass) and had a clear cord. The Jandorf lamp kit was the only one that fit my requirements and was a complete package (although I did have to purchase a longer threaded part). It was very easy to make a lamp with this product, in my case from a large wine bottle. To hold everything in place I drilled a hole in the bottle’s cork and pushed the threaded part through the cork. I was planning to use a nut on the back/bottom side of the cork, but it wasn't necessary as the cork/threaded part fit snuggly into the bottle by itself. I gave the finished lamp to my neighbor as a gift, and she has raved about how beautiful it is ever since. Would definitely by this product again.

We used this kit to rewire a light that was old and the wiring was bad. It worked perfectly and has enabled us to use a light that we bought several years ago and could no longer use. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone needing to rewire a lamp.

I bought this kit because i couldn't find one in silver color in my local stores. I am disapointed in the quality of the materials. The instructions were fine but the housing where the wires attach to the socket is very flimsy and does not fit well together. The weight of a lampshade makes it tip to the side.
