Great product. Easy to use and does the job as long as YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. I don't understand why so many. people have a problem with that. You prewet your garment, dissolve dye in water put the garment in and boil covered for 30-60 min. in a COVERED pot. It does smell, but when you have the lid on it is minimal. Also, it's a dye so you need to be careful not to stain anything else.

The product comes with clear, step by step instructions. Follow these to the letter and the finished result is excellent! Dyed a dress and shoes from white to charcoal/granite grey, these were 100% polyester and took up the dye brilliantly. Unfortunately the process smells like burning plastic and be very careful of any splashes - this dye is very potent and permanent!!

I was a little hesitant, as I was dying some thicker nylon dance tights, but it worked like a charm!! Super dark pigment if you follow all the instructions correctly, it is a bit smelly as it’s synthetic dye. However, make sure you are super careful with it! One splash on another part of the item and it’s all over and immediately dyed- but hey, that’s the point of the product! 10/10 would recommend! 👍

I have used this a few times to dye some of my vacuum formed visors for 3d prints, and it does it's job exactly like it should! The only issues I've had with it are that it tends to clump when putting it in water, so you have to stir well and make sure it's boiling. The scent is also not great at all. The color is perfect with the color intensifier, and it's overall easy to use! Definitely would recommend to 3D printers out there!

I have been in search for a jet black synthetic dye for months now. I have tried everything under the sun to dye this synthetic velvet piece I’ve had from Rit Dye (in the color graphite), to even attempting to use Sharpie and fabric markers as I was only trying to darken parts of the velvet. I usually use Rit Dye for all my synthetic dyeing, but if you are familiar with it, graphite is their darkest color in synthetic dye. Even when done correctly, this color will always turn out as a dark gray and not JET black. As for the markers… everything just washed out with one single cycle in the wash. I was running out of options until I did a deep dive here on Amazon and on Google for “the best dye for polyester fabric” and I was directed to this dye multiple times. I was worried that it would wash out/ the color intensity would be similar to the Rit Dye and the markers based on a few reviews, but as with everything take them with a grain of salt. That being said, this dye did everything I excepted it to and more. It comes out this gorgeous, jet black AND doesn’t wash out of synthetics the moment you put it through a laundry cycle. It comes in a powder and with a color intensifier. You use the traditional stovetop method with this dye (I suggest following the directions on the back of the packet for the best results). I kept my fabric in for about 35-40 minutes and couldn’t have been happier with the results! This is some of the highest quality synthetic dye I have used next to Rit. As long as you follow the directions and have a bit of patience, you’ll be dyeing beautiful jet black fabric with this dye!🖤🖤🖤

There was a skirt I fell in love with at Target, but it had polka dots. I am not a polka dot girlie. But the skirt was polyester, so what could I do? After some research, this was a highly suggested product. It worked great! No more polka dots, just a solid black skirt with a silhouette and ruffle I love.Word of caution: It made my kitchen smell like burning tires. Keep your fan on and a window open. Also, do NOT rinse it out in a bathtub. Use a stainless steel sink or something. It will leave a gray ring in your plastic tub.

Daumen hoch!!!

Look I did not do the stovetop method, I put boiling water in a plastic bucket outside so maybe it's on me. However1) the only thing it dyed turned gray and not black and the cloth was basically white before, it didn't change the majority polyester 4 other clothing items at all!2) It stinks to high heavens. I have a horrible sense of smell, and I got a headache from how bad it was. I have no idea how regular people could use this inside their house.3) It stained the bottom of the plastic bucket I used so probably don't use a pot you like.

Not sure why they want me to rate "thickness" or "warmth". This is a packet of fabric dye. I would give it 4 stars for performance, 1 star for the Amazon description.I wanted to dye an ugly pink poly-cotton sweatshirt black, so I bought the iDye Poly black. The instructions *really* need to be included in the product description here because:(a) they instruct you not to use a pot or utensils that will be used for food in the future. It is strangely greasy and clingy and creates rings in the pot you dye in. It also left greasy suds in the utility sink after i washed it. So it takes elbow grease to clean up afterwards.(b) iPoly dye will *only* dye synthetics, not natural fibers. So if you have a poly-cotton blend it will only dye the synthetic fibers. If you want the fabric completely dyed then you need to buy both iDye and iDye Poly.(c) be forewarned this stuff is incredibly stinky and toxic -- like huffing paint fumes kind of toxic. They say to use this with adequate ventilation but avoiding the fumes is impossible if you are supposed to stir this frequently for an hour, unless you have your own fume hood.
