Regularly checking the tread depth of your tires is crucial for maintaining proper tire performance, as well as ensuring optimal handling and control of your vehicle. Low tire tread depth can lead to reduced traction, increased stopping distance, and decreased fuel efficiency. With the TreadPro, you can easily measure the tread depth of your tires with precise accuracy and quickly determine if it's time for a replacement.

How To Check Tire Tread Depth
Ensure Treads are Clean & Dry
Remove any stones, debris or foreign objects from the tire tread and ensure it's clean and dry. Insert the gauge's probe into the tread groove and make sure it's perpendicular to the tire surface. Center the probe over the center of the tire tread.
Check Tire Tread Depth
Gently press down on the gauge until the stem is flush with the tread surface. Ensure the gauge is stable, and then read the depth measurement on the gauge's dial.
Check for Uneven Tread Wear
Repeat the process in different locations across the tire surface, both laterally and longitudinally, to ensure an accurate measurement of the tire's overall tread depth.
Review the Results
Compare the readings to the manufacturer's recommended tread depth to determine if the tire needs replacing.

Simple, easy to use, easy to store, easy to read. I bought it to use on my car - but on a whim checked the mud tires on my truck and realized they needed replacing because they had ben run at too high of a pressure. I had 8mm left (of 17mm) on the edges - but the centers were only 2.5mm. Lessons learned - 1) Check your psi and your tread levels. 2) if you use quick oil change places that check your tires inflation for free - make sure they know your oversize tires to not go to the stock psi.

Nice build and excellent quality at a great price. Bought one of these for each of our cars. Readings are consistent across the gauges. No need for batteries or backlights or unintelligible directions. Just position, push, read, reset, and repeat in a few other places to check tire tread depth.

A must have if you want to monitor your tire tread depth. Especially if you go to the stealership for your vehicle work (never trust them, tires are waaaay to expensive). A 5 years old can easily and successfully use this tool.

The penny methods is okay to check tire depth but this gives exact measurement to be sure your tire tread is safe. Easy to use and easy to read.

Have only used it briefly but it seems well made and nice for the price. How often does the average person really need a depth gauge? I wanted it because I am a tool junkie and I wondered about my preowned vehicle tires. It’s cool, affordable and I like it.

I own 5 vehicles and decided to purchaes this item to confirm what the mechanic may state as my tire tread condition. This item works well, is well built and feels good on your hands when using...not a cheap feel at all, which sometimes is important for tools. I went with JACO since I own a tire pressure gauge that has been a total workhorse , whihc I have owned for years.This JACO tire tread depth guag e is easy to use and the bright dial with color as measurements decrease was helpful. As soon as the item arrived I measured the tires on all 5 vehicles and it worked perfectly. I also had no issues with calibration. After eash measurement, I simply placed the gauge on a flat surface, or for speed and eas of use, just used my finger to level the plunger so it would read zero after each use. If this product is like my other JACO product, this will last for years and is another great automotive tool to have on hand.
