About this item

  • Handle glazed pure white porcelain
  • Perfect for mixing inks, dyes, and water media
  • Porcelain is functional and looks great

Hand glazed in China, these pure white porcelain items are great for mixing inks, dyes, and water media without staining. For artists painting on porcelain dolls or dishware, these palettes offer the advantage of knowing what the color will look like on a similar surface. Not only are they functional, they also look great wherever you need that "artistic" touch.

These watercolor saucers are perfect. The convex and concave design is brilliant, one side pools the water while the other side moves the water the the edge. They hold plenty of water and are easy to clean. The dishes are thick, one somehow survived a short fall with no damage, I did hit my foot followed by a tumble on a wood floor. They stack for easy storage. Would recommend to any watercolorist

I use for watercolor. Easy clean up and quick reuse. High quality but glass. I personally would not use for travel

I loved the shape, size and nestability, unfortunately the glaze on the bottom was damaged on two of them, had to be returned. First time for this to happen from this brand.Updated: I decided to purchase this again and the replacement only had one minor blem on the inside rim of just one of the ceramic "bowls" (dishes) that I found that would not affect my good paint brushes (small rough bump). The separate dishes do not seem to be all of the same shape, but they do stack securely, however, the top "lid" does not sit very securely on the top (perhaps will need to use something like washi tape to keep the lid securely resting on top).I bought these to make larger mixes of paint for larger paintings that use a lot of the same mixes of specific colors rather than using the smaller wells in my ceramic palettes with smaller wells hoping that it will help save on time so I can spend more time painting, less time mixing, and to maintain consistency in their colors for a given project for classes I am taking online.

Perfect size, and great to stack when finished so they don’t take up space on my desk. I wish they came in a cardboard cylinder for travel.

Really wanted to love these, but there is poor quality control. The glaze on these porcelain bowls is bubbly and inconsistent, leaving areas of exposed clay and glaze drips in other places. Watercolor pigments settle and stain in these defects in the glaze and it’s frustrating to keep trying to clean.I actually happened across a set of 4 porcelain saucers (meant for serving appetizers/sauces) not much larger than these at the thrift store and they work as intended because the glaze is perfect. Now these Jack Richeson bowls just sit on my desk unused.

I wanted to try my hand at silk painting, and the beginner kit of silk dyes that I purchased only had the 3 primary colors plus black. I used these to mix the exact dye color that I wanted. The middles are slightly domed, so I could easily get "less" paint on my brush by dabbing in the middle, or "more" by dipping around the edges. They worked out so great that I'm back to get another set.My dyes dried in these dishes overnight. The next day I wiped what I could with a paper towel and gently swished in a tub of water - within 5 seconds of swishing they looked brand new. No staining, and no uneven glaze that would cause any hard to clean crevices. These are great.
