pretty decent timer, would like for all the fitting to be brass, hopefully the plastic outlets hold up, came with the male part of 2 plastic quick connects but not the female part, would of been nice to have the complete quick connect, i have some brass one and will probably just go ahead and use thosethe setting on the timer is pretty simple but all i needed was a once a day for 20 minutes on both zones and that was easy to settime will tell how it holds up

It works. The hose bib attachment is METAL, not plastic. I get so sick of plastic parts breaking when they should have used a metal part. This one uses metal, and works. It does not leak. It turns on when it should, it turns off when it should.

We have all sorts of uses for these, including raised beds, flower beds, vegetable patches, young orchard, and various shrubs and bushes. One problem people often create is underwatering or overwatering. And that is why I use so many of these timers. And not only is quantity of water important, but timing can be as well.Everyone has seen sprinkler systems running during the day. That is a tremendous waste of water, since evaporation will be much more rapid during the day, but also moisture on many plants can have a burning effect when the sun is out. I like 4-7 am for most of my watering. It is well absorbed prior to the warm part of the day and the plants will be fully hydrated facing the heat.Even with timing correct, quantity also is important. That is determined by what I am using to distribute the water. A sprinkler is a whole lot different than a soaker hose. One thing I never, ever do is use short watering cycles. They promote surface roots that easily dry out and keep the plant from developing a deep, healthy root system. Far better to do two 30-minute cycles per week vs seven 5-minute cycles. Especially for trees and larger shrubs. You want those roots down deep so the plant becomes drought tolerant. In some extreme climates you might even have to go with a morning and a late afternoon watering if things get really dry.So with all of the different needs I use many timers and have them set on many different cycles. I watch the plant's reaction to what I am doing and change things up if it isn't working right. And timers like this one let you fine-tune your watering cycles. Most of them are pretty similar and I only have had one I rejected because it was simply too hard to program. Well, another was so cheaply made it leaked everywhere. Most of the others, including this one, shouldn't take over two or three minutes to get a full week programmed.I did take a star off because like most others I have the outlets are plastic. It is rare for one to break, but the inlet is metal yet the outlets, which receive quite a lot of stress from pulling hoses this way and that, tend to be plastic. No doubt far easier to make it all part of a single plastic casting. Still, a metal hose coupling on a plastic nipple bothers me.And a final word. Always bring these inside during the winter. Even a little water sitting inside of the timer out in the freezing cold can cause internal cracking when the water turns to ice and expands. The same goes for handheld sprinkler heads. I've left them unattached outside only to find in the spring water starts shooting out from all of the wrong places.

I installed this on my hose at an Airbnb along with a hose lock so that I didn’t have to drive down on freezing nights to drip the faucet. Worked perfectly. Quick and easy connection . I set up in less than 10 minutes

I like the fact that the display tells you exactly what's happening. Unlike older water valves that have no display whatsoever this product has it all.
