I was skeptical, but this little thing actually fixed my TiVo Bolt pixelation. At a 33dB SNR, I was always getting video glitches and pixelation, or artifacts. Taking the SNR down to 30dB totally fixed my issue. Clear picture all the time now. This seems totally counter intuitive to me, but it works. I tried it first directly connected to my TiVo Bolt, but it caused communication issues with the tuning adapter, so I moved it to the input of the tuning adapter, where it worked great. I went ahead and moved the attenuator to the input side of my splitter in the attic to see if it would also fix my intermittent internet issues. So far so good. My cable TV picture still looks great and my internet speed is where it should be. I'm still not sure why this makes everything better, but I'm guessing it's because my house is so close to the neighborhood cable junction box resulting in a signal that was too strong/hot.

The product was a quality product and worked great. Bieiden was always there to help me through my problems with options and information! This device very simply cuts the signal to remedy tiling (only when there is too much signal noise), not just lack of signal strength. I'm very happy with both product and seller!

After calling my cable provider numerous times for extremely poor internet service and even a tech came out- who said the lines were fine, tech checked the signal on his laptop, I was still having dropped signals, no internet or it was very very poor connectivity. I had my Airport Extreme router hooked up to it. They kept saying that the Airport was the main issue, clearly there was nothing wrong w/ it, I even did factory resets on both the modem and router. I got fed up and started researching. I learned about attenuators and down stream power signals. My Channel power levels were fluctuating from +4- +6dBmV on all channels 1-8 (SB6141), so I decided on a 3dBmV attenuator. Power levels are now zero to +1 and I have fantastic Internet performance. The power signals are supposed to be as close to zero as possible or else you will get poor quality internet connection. Disappointing that the provider did not offer this option, but of course why would they want to spend $7-8 dollars extra on a customer for a small part to easily fix your line?Four stars as I could not track this item during delivery. Otherwise great DIY fix, check your power levels as there are different levels of attenuators.

It worked ok but I require an attenuator with value for my present situation.

I posted this same review on the 6dB attenuator as well. Apparently Tivo boxes - I have the new Roamio Plus - still don't like "hot" signals and can cause everything from pixilation to rebooting. I had the rebooting problem. After talking with Tivo several times about it, the Tivo rep said my signal at 100% and 41dB was way, way too hot. I told him that my cable provider (TWC) installed a whole-home amplifier due to the number of outlets and the size of my house, and he suggested attenuators which will help knock down the signal.I bought three attenuators... 3dB, 6dB, and 12dB. I installed the 3dB attenuator and it didn't really do much. I removed it and installed the 6dB. It helped, but still not enough to bring it in spec per Tivo. So I stacked the 3dB and the dB for a total of 9dB (yes, you can stack them... simply screw them together) and that brought my signal to within Tivo's recommended range. My signal strength is now 92% and the SNR is 36dB. It's still just slightly hotter and out of spec on the other tuners (the Roamio Plus has 6 tuners) but of course depends on the channel. Make sure to check all of your tuners after installing.By the way, Tivo's recommended range is 80-99% signal strength and 29-35 SNR. You'd think stronger = better, but apparently that's not the case.Hopefully this will help other Tivo customers troubleshoot their issues. I'll update the review in a few weeks with a status on my random rebooting.***edit 5/20/14*** I had to install all three attenuators to bring the signal down to what Tivo recommends, but ever since installing them, I haven't had a random reboot. If your Tivo has strange problems and your signal stats are too hot, I can't recommend these little gems enough. Simple to install, inexpensive, and cured my problems.

I am using ota antenna with TIVO. I live really close to the local towers, so get a really strong signal which was causing choppiness and freezing. I did a little googling and posted in some forums, looking for help. Several people told me I needed an Attenuator. Radio Shack no idea what I was talking about, so I ordered here.Works like a charm. I have had it for about a year and have had perfect picture since.

I am so disappointed with TIVO. I am getting no satisfaction from them. The 1st TIVO I had lasted 1 1/2 years. The screen went gray. After spending almost an hour with a representative he told me the hard drive was defective. It cost me more money for a re-furbished one. Almost $100.00 Now that one keeps re-booting and getting a gray screen. I've been without a working TIVO more than a working one. Now they tell me I need an attenuator and I could purchase one at Radio Shack. Radio Shack thought I was crazy and no one carries them. I checked Best Buy, Target, Walmart etc. I ordered one through Amazon. It took 1 week to get and and guess what THE TIVO STILL DOESN'T WORK. IT HAS A GRAY SCREEN! I am annoyed. The TIVO box cost almost $500 and it's been a piece of junk. The TIVO was purchased through Amazon.
