The indicator holder fits fine on my knee mill. It’s a very well made tool and does the job fine. It holds a dial test indicator with .200 stem as well as one with bevels. I have a number of Edge tools and they are all well made and perform great! This one is too!

Like night and day over an Indicol original, not a total replacement. It’s much easier to position, more solid and repeatable to check the next part. No knobs to loosen or get in the way. The indicator stylus is kept on center of the arc regardless of placement which is what you want 98% of the time but sometimes you need to pivot the stylus off for those weird or obstacle features which this won’t do. This new holder is my everyday go to. Much less mumbling

I have been using an Indicol for over 3 decades and I have to say while the Indicol may be a more versatile tool the Edge indicator holder is quite a bit easier to work with and especially when picking up a hole or pin. The Edge indicator holder keeps the stylus centered on the spindle axis so all I have to do is adjust the swing. With my Indicol I always seem to have to adjust the holder for both stylus / spindle axis and swing. One other feature I like is the ease of friction adjustment for each pivot. It's an elegant design and I think well suited to long trouble free service but time will tell. A product of solid engineering, Well Done!

The thumb screw tightening clamp has a fixed shoe and when tightened, the point of shoe contact on the spindle is far off the thumb screw center. Can't get a proper 3 points of contact from the clamp to the spindle so the holder won't stay in place. Design fix: make the shoe swivel, or make the shoe a brass dog point, or make the shoe with a rubberized dome at the spindle contact point. Edge Technology, are you listening?

There’s a lot of hype & marketing, but I can see why. It operates smoothly with the perfect amount of resistance and let’s face it, the red anodized color is a chick magnet. Unless you have the time and ability to make a custom thing that can compete, this is the one.

The fact that the indicator point is kept in the plane of the spindle turns out to be an important convenience and makes this holder easier to use than the cheaper, more adjustable versions I've seen for years. Those have round rods and the joints can swing the pointer all over the place. This version moves the pointer most anywhere - in the plane of the spindle - which is where you want it to stay for this product's main uses. If you've used the other versions and then use this one, you'll appreciate the difference. It's also nicely made and finished like all the Edge products I've bought so far.
