I purchased this generator after being hit by a hurricane and out of power for days. 7 months after purchasing I was out of line power for 5 days due to freeze shutdown and transformer blowing a fuse. This generator ran my 1200 sq ft home entirely. I continued life like I had power from the electric company. I ran it 16 hours a day for 5 days and had no issues. I have a JD 5083. I recommend this unit. Also prior to purchase and recently after first use I called IMD with questions on operation. They are great knowledgeable people that will guide you in the right direction. I’m so blessed to have made this purchase. (Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it).

This is a nice unit. Easy to assemble. The included male plug was bent, contacted the manufacturer, they replaced it immediately. Oil level hole is marked wrong on instructions--if you open it to check the level, oil comes out all over. I've not yet tested the generator on full load (240V), but it seems to work well starting a large 120v electric grinder. One important thing to keep in mind, especially if you have a smaller tractor: the manufacturer changed the gearbox model without updating online specs on his website. The current gearbox has a different ratio that needs 450 PTO rpm to produce 60 cycles. On my Kubota 3430 diesel, this translates to 2200 engine rpm instead of 2600 which means lower noise and less wear and tear on the tractor; the downside is that the tractor produces less hp at lower rpms. 33 pto hp is needed for a full 16 kw output. For my 34hp Kubota, PTO output is 28.5hp at 540 rpm. Lowering the PTO rpm to 450 for this generator lowers my available power by 17% which should produce only 23-24 PTO hp. This would equate to aprx 11.5KW output. I believe this will be adequate for my needs; since the diesel engine has high torque maybe it will handle surge better. I'm having my house power box changed to be able to attach the generator. When I've tested it on powering the house, I'll try to remember to update this review.....................August 2014 - I finally got the electrician to finish installing the power box to the house last month (there was a flood in the Pensacola area -- 30" of rain in 24 hours -- and he had gotten overwhelmed with emergency jobs). After he got it installed I was able to test the generator on full load. I'm pleased with what it can do. The house has a 2.5 ton central AC for the ground floor; after it started I could turn anything else on without a problem, excluding the range and HW heater which are gas. There was little noticeable drawdown when the central AC compressor kicked in. This generator is for hurricane emergencies, so heating is not an issue, although in addition to the propane range the house also has a Franklin wood burning stove. The cost for the electrical box installed was around $800.
