Cheap product. Poorly made. The tip broke the second time I used it.

It works ok, though I use it for my surface grinder so it starts out depressed then goes negative to see how much I'm taking off. a lot of times it gets stuck or give false data.

Best way there is to check ring and pinion backlash and other tolerances. Put it against ring gear tooth, hit zero, then check play. So so much easier and time saving compared to the dial face I am used to. Also checked accurate when I put it next to the old school dial style I have to make sure out stayed accurate. Great product, awesome case for storing it in.

I bought this to measure backlash in a CNC axis. Worked perfectly. Came in a nice case with an extra battery and two backs. One flat and one with a mounting lug.

I bought the "iGaging Digital Saw Gauge" and it failed the third time I used it. After that the display kept cutting in and out, with out any rhyme or reason, I was forced into buying a new Dial indicator for the gauge. Make no mistake you get what you pay for. I have to say the stand alone Digital Dial indicator is of a better quality then the one that came with the saw gauge. Not much better. The back plate has a better fit and finish. It worked out of the box and hasn't developed the same faults as the previous one, yet any way. We shall see. I got my eye on you "iGaging".

I bought this to help me level my 3D printer's platform in a more calibrated way than the 'slide a sheet of paper under here' method as described by my Bot's Maker (wink, wink!). It's an excellent value for the money and the fact it can show fractional values to 1/128" of an inch makes it an even better value. Two complaints I have though, both very minor, and one possible surprise! The first... the case. While on first glance it *looks* like it's a high-quality case, it's actually not. The hinges are just flexible, thin plastic, one of which has already snapped in the first week, and a corner very easily cracked on a drop onto a hard floor from a foot up. This doesn't exactly make me too confident that the case will protect the unit from something more intense. Another annoyance, it has has double-locks on the front which you have to 'bend out' to unlock, and being two of them, makes it a slight chore to open considering one hand is holding the box and the other is working one of the locks. You have to do finger-yoga to get them both open, or force-hold the case open after one side is unlocked, thus putting more pressure on those cheap 'hinges'. All in all, I'm not impressed with the case. The other thing is that unlike most other digital units, while it does have absolute and relative measurements, and you can zero out in either mode, it doesn't have min/max values which means you have to keep an eagle eye on the screen when testing the alignment of moving parts. Other units let you simply run the device through the range of motions and you get a simple min/max value, which the difference shows your tolerance. Nice and simple. Not so here, which is a shame since that's a basic software feature that they could have easily added. The possible surprise however was the presence of a Mini USB jack on the side of the unit, which, considering it's not rechargeable, looks like it may be a data-output port. Granted, it's not advertised as such (or even mentioned in the manual whatsoever) but my guess is its either that, or a firmware upgrade port. I'm reaching out to iGaging to find out and will report back. All in all, for the price, it's a very impressive unit and I highly recommend it. If it weren't for the case, it would've gotten a 4.5. However, even with that case, had it had the min/max feature, it would have been a perfect five.
