I use this adapter all the time, it allowed me to take an extra cord I had lying around and create an extension on the spot!

No problems works great for extending a firewire cable and getting all the wires/hard drives, power cords etc inside a cabinet. Highly recommended.

I didn't notice that this product was only for cables 6 Feet or less. That being said, I got no connection from a 3 foot cable on my camera to a 4 foot cable to my computer. (I also tried it with more than one different cable) I Needed it to stream from a mini-dv camera to my computer, but it didn't work on my Dell laptop or my Apple laptop.

This adapter enables me to daisy-chain a number of devices: mini-firewire (400) to firewire 400, then using the adapter, firewire 400 to firewire 800, and finally, ta-da!, firewire 800 to mini displayport (Apple), the whole convoluted affaire enabling me to use an old Mini DV camcorder on a MacBook Air. Not elegant, by any means, but it gets the job done.
