This is a well built tool that will do a good job for general purpose use in crimping ferrules to smaller wire rope assemblies. I used it to make crimps on 1/8" standard wire rope, and it worked well for the 24 or so crimps I had to do for my project. In my opinion, if you're doing professional cable assembly it might be best to spend a bit more on a tool that will stand up to heavy use. The cutter tool included did well cutting 1/8" wire rope, no complaints there. Well made combo for the price paid.

Excellent quality, quite portable compared to other crimpers, worth buying!

I wanted to make up wire rope cables with the aluminum crimp sleeves for my sunshade sails rather than use the cable clamps (which in my opinion always look shoddy). I bought one of the short handled aluminum sleeve crimpers but it was next to impossible to use since it required so much pressure on the handles. Then I saw the iWiss/iCrimp long handled crimper, it was more expensive, but I was spending money already to get something that was unsatisfactory. The long handle crimpers really work for someone smaller than Arnie! Just get these crimpers and you will not be disappointed! But wait! There's more! The crimper comes with a pair of cable cutters that also work really well, leaving a clean unfrayed cut!

I had a garage door spring break and decided to just replace both of course while at it redoing all the cables pulleys etc, so I needed this rather quickly and didn't what to spend an arm and a leg. The crimper and cutter are absolutely essential to do the job right. These were much better tools than I expected for the price and I was very pleased! They made the job easier and better than using the threaded U bolt style cable clamps, on my doors there were places where the bolt clamps would simply have not worked/fit. Crimping the swags is not "easy" and I'd not want to do it all day with this size manual crimper but for a garage door or two it's fine. Good tool and a great price, the cost of the springs, hardware and these tools I am sure I saved a couple of hundred bucks tackling the job myself.

I got this set for a specific job and to add to my collections. I'm happy with the value. The cutter works great. Easy to cleanly cut 1/8" cable even with one handThe crimper is a compromise between size and available leverage. It takes effort to start the compression, but I could do it. Longer handles would make it easier but take more space and be awkward in tight situations. Aircraft cable is springy and it takes a little planning to get the crimper on the ferrule and the ferrule on the cable in the correct place, but with patience, it can be done and the results look professional. In summary it is a good value for useful tools.

First, the cable cutters easily cut 1/8 inch cable. Used by 81 year old arthritic hands. The crimping tool is excellent. It was used to crimp 1/8 inch wire rope ferrules for portable building tie downs. It takes some force to close the handles on the 1/8 inch crimp. I had to get a friend to do it.I didn't do this, but it's an idea I got from someone using a similar tool. He removed the plastic part of the handles and used two lengths of pipe to make longer handles. The setting for each size of wire rope ferrule is listed on the tool. To change settings, loosen the nuts on the opposite side of the dials. This changes cams internally so that the correct force can be applied to the crimp. These are well designed and well made tools. I highly recommend them.

I am a theatrical technical director and have used many brands of crimpers and cutters. I used this set to rig three productions so far and counting. That's dozens of cuts and crimps. This thing is wonderful. It's compact size is easier for me to get in tight or high places. Although, the shorter handles do require a bit more force. Not a problem for me but, may be for others. If you are using this crimper for structural or flying purposes I have two points. You should be using a go-no go gauge, as often as you can. This thing does NOT come with one. (It should). That said, I have a few spare gauges and this crimper works very well. It's way easier to adjust as well. The second point is, I've read some of the reviews and it is clear that many people don't know how wire rope accessories work. Not all swaging sleeves are rated. Not all wire rope is alike. The markings on the tool are clear. I/8th inch refers to the diameter of the wire rope. You should educate yourself or leave it to the professionals, you run the risk of injury or worse. The cutters are tricky, here is a trade secret. If you use the cutters properly, they will last a long time. Seriously, as with any of these cutters, if you don't keep the tool perpendicular to the wire rope when cutting force is applied, you will trap the individual wires in the rope. This widens the pivot which lossens the tool and makes cutting impossible. But that is user error. All of these cutters behave this way including felco.Just pay attention and enjoy.

I've used a number of crimpers and wire cutters working on boat rigging over the years. On my small projects, using 1/8" wire and fittings, both these crimpers and cutters functioned as well as any I've ever used. This type of tool requires a little skill and/or experience One has to understand what they can and cannot do. They are not forgiving of mistakes. Nor are they indestructible. Used right - these are a bargain. Used badly, or on unsuitable materials, they ain't gonna work. For folks who have had trouble with the cutters - I have two comments. First, these are small cutters, without a lot of leverage. If you're going to cut 1/8" stainless wire with them, you're going to have to use real force. If you don't have strong hands, pick another tool. But, if you put a wrap of electrical tape on the area you're going to cut to keep the strands in place, and cut quickly and forcefully, the cutters I received are more than adequate.
