The most important feature it lacks is identifying the devices it tests. The user literally needs to tell this IC tester what IC it is testing, so for example you have to tell it you have 7404 and it will test it to make sure it is operational, the list of components is limited. If the code was included I would possible rewrite it autodetect the components. a cheaper Chinese 1.5v device does all of what this device does and so much more, including identification of ICs (this is important because many of my old TTLs do not have labels on the) , as long as you feel comfortable ordering it from China.

I used to validate some 74LS ICs that I thought I had fried. The major caveat with this tester is it does not support testing some of the more complicated chips like the 245.

I bought this to troubleshoot vintage 1970's electronics, TTL logic chips. for my application it worked ok, it is not capable of testing all of the chips I needed it to so i also bought a usb minipro TL866CS to round it out. one thing i noticed is that this device cannot test the 74LS166 properly, even with a new tube of chips they all tested bad, but were verified good in the minipro. for what it is, it's a bit expensive also.
