How does a bio sponge filter work?
Attached a sponge filter to a 3/16 inch airline to an air pump, constant flow of air bubbles rise up from the top and out into fish tank.
Dirty water be sucked into small fish filter through chink, fine sponge traps fish waste, decaying plants and other debris, while bio balls provide plenty space areas for the colony of beneficial bacteia to thrive and grow, and finally push clean water out of the top of the filter. Thanks to both mechanial and biological filtrations, this small yet efficient filter filtered out sparkly clean water. At the meantime, it agitates water surface with constant bubbles.
- For better performance, it is better to use with a powerhead or water pump to blow up debris to filter. It helps to cleaning the tank faster.
- If you found bubbles loud, use a less powerful air pump instead. It can reduce the sound of bubbles.
- The suction depends on the air pump you use. The small output air pump, the weak suction.

Bio Filter Media
The surface area of bio balls build up the beneficial bactea that help break down ammonia and nitrate.
Low Maintenance:
- Clean sponge with aquarium water every two weeks
- Replace sponge it with any brand sponge, just cut to size
- Clean bio balls every two months,
- Replace partial bio balls every six months, replenish only ⅓ at 1 time
- Rinse these ceramic balls thoroughly before use. Please remember to rinse them in aquarium water not tap water.
Diameter of these bio balls: 1.8 cm. You can replace these balls with same size or smaller bio balls as you want.

Swapped out my old filter for what I thought would be an upgrade. My betta hated everything about it at the lowest setting. I've never seen him so stressed. Says good for betta but I would pass if that's what you're looking for.Works prefect otherwise and does a great job at making the water clean.

It clears my 3 gallon tank quite well when I sit up stuff, and it's a good space saver while also not so small as to be inefficient. (I did previously buy one too small. This is perfect.) My couple of snails and couple of shrimp are happy.

Very happy with this so far. Seems to filter well and isn't objectionable looking (to me). It's certainly a huge improvement over the Aquatop filter that came with my tank, which not only didn't filter well but was drastically over-powered and killed several of my chili rasboras.

I bought this for our shrimp tank. I really like that I can add bio media in it as well. The bio balls seem good quality but I actually replaced them with crushed coral to help regulate the ph. I’m replacing a regular sponge filter with it.So far it puts out a lot of larger bubbles but that’s fine, but does make it just a bit louder than the previous filter. Not obnoxiously so, but noticeable. It will be more complicated to clean this one than the previous filter as well, but again since I can use the bio media I’m okay with that.I can’t speak to how well it works yet, the old filter was actually pretty good at keeping the tank clean, and the sponge on this filter is half the size. I’m hoping this works well, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Useless terrible waste of money. Works great for a day or two before getting clogged!The cap has a small hole that’s supposed to hold the filter media to prevent it from getting into the pump, but the hole is SO small that it gets clogged too easily, even when no debris is stuck in there! So I tried fixing it by removing that cap, and still, the sponge was enough to clog the damn thing.My return window is closed so I’m trying to repurpose the thing to get some use out of it. I’ve flipped it upside down for use as a surface skimmer and am only keeping one sponge inside. We’ll see how long that goes for 🙄

yo lo compre para mi acuario de 10L, hay que leer muy bien las imagenes ya que en la descripción no menciona que necesitaras aparte una bomba de aire con mangueras.Da la impresión de que si succiona porque despide burbujas pero en si eso lo hace la bomba de aire por si sola. supuestamente su función es succionar agua por debajo lo cual no lo hace, el aire sube directamente de la manguera que se conecta por arriba a la superficie y nunca pasa nada por la esponja ni por las esferas que trae. Considero que trae un error de diseño ya que si la manguera estuviera conectada por debajo si cumpliría mejor la función.Termine comprando un mini filtro interno con cabeza de poder al cual le agregue canotillos
