I used this thermometer in a saltwater, above ground pool this summer. I didn't get 6 weeks out of it before the pins holding the actual thermometer in place rusted off and rendered it useless. I wouldn't recommend this product.

I bought this because the reviews seemed good and it was a good price. However it must be cheap quality because it does not read temperature accurately.

I found this product pretty good for the first season. We have a salt water pool with low levels of chlorine yet the metal clips that hold the glass thermometer in place rusted out completely half way through the second season.complete fail. Also I paid $6.20 CAD for this and now it is listed at $18.00. WTF

Seems quite sturdy. The numbers are easily read.

Bought this a few weeks ago and put it in the pool. The interior has already developed rust, so we can't read part of the thermometer. Don't buy this product. FWIW, our pool is maintained with a very low chlorine level, so it's not particularly corrosive.UPDATE- Amazon sent me a replacement for this product, and it was off by at least 5 degrees, so useless, plus it fell apart the moment I touched it.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Purchased this pool thermometer in mid-April. Put it in the pool. Lasted exactly 74 days. I noticed on Sunday June 26th that the small piece of cord that came with the thermometer had disintegrated and was no floating free around my pool. Then upon further inspection the small piece of wire that held the thermometer tube in place had rusted from water intrusion and the thermometer could no longer be read because the tube moves freely inside its housing so you can tell what the temperature actually is. Of course this last just beyond the window of returning it to Amazon. So I guess I have no other recourse but to complain on here and spend more money on another thermometer. Awesome.

I got this on impulse as it thought it would be good to have one I my pool. It was cheap so I should have known what to expect. Anyway, the cover fell off the front of it straight away and got scratched dragging on the bottom of the pool. I managed to fix it back on held with a dab of superglue but after a few days it is now very difficult to read the temperature. Not a good purchase.

the top piece became a little weak but product works fine. Seems to find itself close to the drain area.

Loved this. I see some people with bad reviews for this, but I don't know what they are talking about. Used this for my 17,000 gallon pool all summer, and had no issues what-so-ever. I will probably purchase another one next year, only for the reason that the adhesive has come un-done, and it's begun to discolor (which happens in pools), but can do so since it's so reasonably priced!

this arrived on time. not fancy not cute, but functional. I like the big numbers on the thermometer. easy to read in the pool when your eyes ar blurry from the chlorine! THis will last only one season but that 's ok I only paid $6 for it! floats nicely on top of the pool

product looked fine [ie no apparent damage] but doesnt work. put on pool, reads a constant 80 degrees, took it out, same thing. should be zero rating but system wouldnt allow. not a pricey item but still expect it to function

I've had the Hydro Tools 9245 Buoy Floating Pool Thermometer in my koi pond for several weeks now. My second digital thermometer stopped reading and so I decided to go back to basics and have no regret. It has taken me a little while to get used to reading it since I'm used to the digital; but it takes me a while to read a face clock too.The rope seems like it is strong and will not break or rot through (something that happened to the floating thermometer I had before the two digital displays.)This is large and is not discreet. My koi pond is very natural looking and so I've put it underneath a small bridge. I've seen similar ones in pools and this has not been an issue because it wasn't important for them to blend in.I've paid much more for thermometers that don't seem as sturdy. This seems like it will last well for years.
