I often have to repack hydraulic cylinder seals on forklift tilt cylinders, and one of the seals can be a challenge getting installed. This little device helps get the seal mostly inside, so you don't have to wear your thumbs out trying to work it on.

I got these to install several inside seals on my skidsteers hydraulic cylinders. I watched a video of a guy struggling with a zip tie trying to get one seal in, and another one where the person used a tool like this and they went right in. I didn't want to spend all day on one seal, or damage the seal, so I got this tool. The ends are polished smooth, so they wont damage the seals, and it made installing the seal a one minute job - once I put on some latex gloves. The issue is they are all metal, without non-slip on the handles, so with the hydraulic fluid on them, they are very slippery. The gloves gave me the friction I needed to use them easily - not a huge issue, as I should have been wearing gloves working with hydraulic fluid anyway; just be aware.

These little tools are making life so much easier. Rather than trying to forcibly install the rings and glands, then to have to use sharp instruments push, pull or roll them into position, risking damage, use these instead. A simple fold of the o ring or seal into the tool allows proper alignment and positioning. Installation is accomplished with the use of more thought and less brute force. Allowing the reallocation of brute force to more worthy endeavors. If you only rebuild one cylinder ever, these tools will earn their place in your tool box. Their purchase is recommended.
