We purchased this because so many gas stations have stopped using these. They serve as a buffer to keep fumes from escaping and to prevent gas from splashing out. We bought it as a recommendation from a mechanic. We’ve used it about a year now and have been pleased with it. It stores easily inside the door to our gas cap so it’s always attainable.

Unfortunately, these nozzle spash shields are really chintzy. They slipped on with absolutely no effort... Which means they slip off with equally little effort. The shields themselves are flimsy and don't easily retain their shape when bent.
