Replaced my old controller with this unit from Hunter that has the WiFi receiver built into it. What a pleasure it is to adjust my irrigation sprinkler system from anywhere on the planet! Download the app into your phone and adjust individual settings in an instant. Was recommended by a landscape designer and I’ve spread the word to friends who struggle with their inferior units. You won’t be disappointed with this controller!

I gave this a 4 star rating because I could not give a four-half. reason being it took awhile to connect wireless. I do have say This the company that sold this Hunter Hydrawise system work with me and so did Hunter. So I subject that we change out the Wand,. Instead they said no we will send you a new control panel and Wand. The Wand is what send the wifi connection. Since I already had my zones set, time and monitoring from the last setting everything carried over. I am happy with it. Don;t pay for a Irrigation company to connect the zone controls if you are replacing the box. Just unplug the old box take a picture of the wiring, 10-15 tops to replace. WiFi is different took to long for a connection. It would be nice if a surge protector for out doors could be found to protect from underground lighting strikes. Buy this product as one unit more cost effective.

I purchased this to replace the Hunter X-Core XC-800i (non-wifi) unit that was installed when house was built 4-years ago. This X2-800 with Wand WiFi Module took some patience and diligence to get connected to my wifi but once I solved it, is all I hoped it would be.The trick to connecting to your wifi, if you have a multi-band unit like I do, is to disable or rename the 5GHz frequency when connecting the Hydrawise X2-800. The Hunter install instructions say only that the unit operates (connects) on the 2.4GHz frequency but they do not aptly describe what you'll experience when it has trouble connecting on a dual/multi-band router. I simply renamed my 5GHz channel, set up the unit, then renamed the 5G back. The Hunter device will stay connected (at least mine did) once established, just took some thinking to realize how to get it connected. Occasionally, when the I reset the router, I have to execute the 5GHz channel rename and revert but the Hydrawise functions flawlessly otherwise.

It is pretty easy to install and use in the normal mode. It worked really well. But wifi is another story. It is not like programming a TV wifi or other appliance wifi. After many failed attempts, I succeeded in making it work. However, after using it couple of weeks I am absolutely impressed. It works like a charm. I can control the watering from anywhere through the cell phone. That is really impressive. I also installed a wireless rain sensor from Hunter that is also working very well. In summary, this system can take over the control and decision making of the lawn irrigation completely.

Replaced my X-Core with this because wanted WiFi control. It was very easy to set up. Wiring is the same. Best way to connect to WiFi first time is the option to press the button on your router. Item came brand new in the box.

I bought this a few weeks back and installed it myself as a replacement for an existing Hunter. I wanted the wifi connectivity and my old one didn't have that. The wiring scheme was virtually identical, so by carefully tagging the wires I was able to install the new one without any issues at all. Connecting it to wifi also wasn't hard, but then I'm pretty well versed in such things. The only limitation I've seen thus far is the size of the screen on the unit is smaller than the old one and doing things at the unit is more challenging. Wifi is the intended interface, but we all experience network issues now and then and I think they should have kept the larger screen for this reason. As for the app, I'm very happy with it and it gives me everything I wanted. I also like that I can access the same functions via a web browser from my computer. Not every company provides both app and web interfaces so this impressed me. So overall very pleased.
