Many humidifiers have humidity settings that just control the rate at which water is boiled from the humidifier and do not actually raise the humidity to a preset level and then stop boiling. With this unit you can set the humidity and it will turn the humidifier/vaporizer off when the desired humidity is reached. Highly recommended.

Gave it a 4 since its hard to evaluate without going for a period of time . So far, easy to install and monitor

I think it is a scam. Looks identical to the one Elon Musk is pushing.

Wanted to wait until I had it a few weeks to see how it works. Usually within a few points of what my hygrometer says. Set it at 47% and keeps my basement around 45% humidity. Looks well-built to me. Also not concerned about the size as I can still plug something else into the same outlet. Regulates my dehumidifier well since the built in humidistat in the dehumidifier quit recently. Very satisfied with my purchase.

works great. simple to use. THERE IS NO BATTERY BACKUP so make sure you do not have this on a switch that is on a timer. (it will reset any time a timer turns it off)

This device is large, but it works great! The reason I didn’t give it five stars is due to needing to set it 10 percentage points below where I’d like to keep that area. I tried setting it for precisely what I wanted. The dehumidifier kept running beyond 5 points higher. I experimented, setting it 10 points lower. So, set at 38, it keeps my humidity level at my preferred 48%, as indicated by two different gauges of my own. The gauge on the device reads 41% while my gauges both read 48%.

The reason for using this extra Humidistat is for when your humidifier or dehumidifier lacks its own humidistat, or in my case, my dehumidifier has a bad internal sensor that is not calibrated and the unit runs constantly. By using this outlet plug humidistat, I save money on my monthly electric bill as well as not needing to throw out my defective dehumidifier that cannot calibrate. With that said, here is context information while I used this product over the summer: I live in a multi-unit building apartment of 690 square feet, so the A/C did not need to run always, but it was still humid, plus while the two ton A/C uses 2 kWh when the dehumidifer uses 500 watts, I could instead raise the thermostat to 78F while relying on fans and a dehumidifer for comfort.Over this summer, the average outside weather was 87.7F and 66.3 dew point, while the median was 88F and 67.63 dew point. On average, my dehumidifier used 7 kilowatts per day by itself but only 2 kilowatts while connected to this humidistat plug set to 50% relative humidity, and I attribute this difference to the dehumidifier's broken internal sensor, which fluctated wildly and it ran the fan constantly to sample the air flow.Paying $0.18 a kilowatt x 5 kilowatt difference a day x 31 days a month = $28.55 in savings per month by using this extra Humidistat outlet to shut off my dehumidifier at the desired humidity level. Now, I cannot comment on the durability or accuracy long term of this outlet plug, but even if it looks cheaply made and breaks, it already paid back in power savings from one summer. The only negatives are the outlet plug is large and it cannot be calibrated itself, however that is mitigated because it measures from 5%-95% relative humidity, (unlike dehumidifiers' internal sensors of 35%-95%), and so if the unit is not accurate, you can still offset this, and I do.Lastly, to emphasize, *only* purchase this if your humidifer and/or dehumidifier can restart on its own after power is turned on, and remembers the settings. This external outlet plug acts as a killswitch and cuts off the power. What I just explained above will not work for you if the (de)humidifier does not keep its settings and cannot resume automatically.
