This outlet is well built and significantly better build than my previous outlet. Consider you will need a larger diameter plate and minimal 2 1/2 deep box.

I've had a Leviton 14-50R installed for several years to charge my EV. I've been concerned lately that the plug from the EVSE seemed to be getting warm after 2-3 hours of charging. That's not right, and having searched around I realized that the Hubbell were highly recommended. The old outlet had only mating surface for half of the plug prong, clearly increasing the resistance and generating heat. Fortunately, I don't charge at home all that often, so no meltdown, but this replacement doesn't get warm at all.If you're using a non-hardwired EVSE and pulling lots of amps, this is very much recommended. The peace of mind is worth the cost.

So far, so good but it does NOT have the EV logo on it. Other reviewers have also mentioned this. Let’s see how it works in the long run. 4 stars just because I don’t like the false advertising.

Don't take chances with an $11 outlet for your $50K EV. I've seen way too many pictures online of homeowners whose cheap 14-50R outlet designed for a dryer melted and almost started a fire. Those cheap outlets are designed to withstand 30-60 minutes of duty, not the sustained high-current needed to charge an EV. Spend the few extra $$ for this one. It's MUCH heavier duty and can take the stress of 8 hours of continuous current. Yes it costs a little more, but you're buying peace of mind that you and your family will wake up in the morning while your EV charges overnight.

This item was a replacement for an outlet from the local big box store and is used for EV charging. You immediately notice the build quality over the home improvement store version. One thing to note...the circle shape of the outlet is bigger so the matching cover is required. Good item at a lower price point than the competition.

Installed this in my garage to charge my F150 lightning. Costs more than the cheap ones, but is supposed to be less likely to melt when warm. No issues with this one.

I originally had my portable Tesla charging cable plugged in to a standard 14-50 plug from Home Depot (probably around $11-12), but the outlet would heat up enough for the Tesla to automatically throttle charge rate from 32A down to 18A.Since upgrading to this outlet, car can charge for hours on end without ever throttling or even getting my warm to the touch. Definitely worth the extra expense.if your charger doesn’t have the temp sensor, this becomes even more important to avoid melting and/or fire.
