I bought this kit because the 04 4Runner I bought had missing parts from the tire change kit. I was most concerned about the extension rods being able to lower my spare tire and I’m happy to report that the extension bars easily fit and allowed me to lower my spare tire.

I am so glad I did a tire change test at my house before actually going on a road trip relying on these set of tools. Simply, the tool with ONE USE got all bended that I could not get it out, currently had to take out the spare tire and load it in the trunk otherwise the tool will be still stuck in there since it gets bended so easily.Fancy packaging and nice color but the performance is horrible.

It is very difficult to find replacement spare tool kits that are advertised to work for 4th Gen 4Runners (2003-2009). In fact this Tacoma kit says its incompatible with the 4Runner but that is not true. Having said that you get what you pay for- as the quality is very cheap compared to factory Toyota kits. But unless you have really bad luck- this should last you long enough for the handful of times you may need it. Also as another reviewer mentioned- you will absolutely need to sand or file the square end smaller in order to fit into the receiver of your Toyota's tire lowering mechanism. Out of the box- the ends are too wide and will not fit into the receiver. It needs to be the same thickness/dimensions as a standard 3/8" socket. Once you get it close roughly close enough to the opening- you can gently tap a few times with a hammer into the receiver and it will conform to the right shape. So in summary- the quality is substandard and it will require some minor modification but it will do the trick on a budget. And it will work for 2003-2009 4Runners!
