I’m not the angler who needs high dollar equipment but I do need quality. The ice rods I got two years ago when my kids and I started in ice fishing all were falling apart or breaking (Frabil’s entry level spinning ice combo $25) As we’re set on ice fishing it was time to replace/ upgrade. Had ordered three, one was broke in shipping (not HT’s fault) Returned with no problem.Good for the price, my kids caught an 18” walleye and several 10” or better crappies. I also pulled a 14” walleye out on one of these rods while my kids were asleep. The Ultralight rod made the light bites so easy to see you couldn’t miss it!! If you don’t ice fish often or just getting started, 💯 recommend HT products. (Frabil’s entry ice rod combos were literally trash after one trip and I had to piece them back together or use our open water reels; these replaced those and lasted all season without signs of failure or fatigue)Short point: don’t waste your money on any other entry level ice rod combo. Now I can open the rod case and hand the kids a rod without having to spend 15 minutes on the ice fixing it or giving up mine so the kiddos can fish.
