  • Restor-A-Finish is a unique finish-penetrating formula that restores wood finishes while blending out minor scratches, blemishes and abrasions
  • Available in nine colors to match almost any wood finish tone; Neutral, Maple-Pine, Golden Oak, Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, Dark Walnut, Dark Oak, and Ebony Brown
  • With a simple wipe-on, wipe-off process, most finished wood surfaces that seem to need a complete refinishing job can be restored in a few minutes
  • Removes white heat rings and water marks, sun fade, oxidation, smoke damage and most other blemishes
  • Restor-A-Finish restores the finish without removing any of the existing finish
  • Before you go to the extreme of stripping it, restore it

Product Description

In 1969, Douglas G. Howard set out to solve this dilemma: how can you eliminate blemishes in wood finishes and restore the original color and luster without removing any of the existing finish? Unable to find an answer at his local hardware store, he went to work in his garage to create his own product. His goal was to make something that would be much more than a surface treatment, yet nothing like a stripper or a refinisher. The key was to develop a formula that could clean and polish the surface, penetrate the finish with stain, and leave the original finish intact. The end result was Restor-A-Finish, Doug Howard's first in what would become a complete line of wood care products. For over 40 years, Howard's Restor-A-Finish has been a standard in the antique industry. Because Restor-A-Finish preserves the original wood finish it also helps preserve its authenticity and value, whereas stripping the finish may literally strip the piece of its value. Almost any existing wood tone, from a Birdseye Maple to a Jacobean, can be closely matched using one of the nine available finish colors. Trying it on just about everything with a traditional wood finish, antique dealers, refinishers, and homemakers have found it to be a safer and easier alternative to stripping and refinishing. Scratches, oxidation, white heat rings, watermarks, smoke damage, and sun fade simply disappear.

I rubbed this product into an old pine bookcase. Also I have some old maple chairs that were very faded and dry after using this product. They looked wonderful but be sure to take whatever it is You’re refinishing outside because the fumes and smell is pretty strong OK

This product works as stated ! Dries quickly, has nice luster, and did not smell..I used a rag to apply and buff in. Not difficult at all. BUT..the size is 1/2 the size that sold at other home improvement stores at same price! So NO, this SIZE is not a good value. That said, I have alot of cabinets and the can is still 3/4 full. Product goes far! (Bought a Walnut color as to not add to the red tone of my wood) it worked!

This gramophone has been around longer than every person who might read this review has. Its sound got someone through the stock market crash of '29. It was a nostalgic relic through a devastating world war. It spent many a year languishing in dusty attics. It was dry, dull, and thirsty.I've never used a Howard's product before. I've never restored anything before. This was my first time doing anything like this. So, total newbie.Just look at it. It looks even better in person (and looked even worse, too). Incredible product. And for how easy it is to use? Few things in life go so smoothly. I couldn't believe it. I followed up with the feed n wax as they recommend. My antique is looking beautiful again! I was so pleased to have been able to restore it and keep the original finish intact rather than refinishing. No sanding, stripping or tears required. 10/10 from me.

Wow, this product really works! It covered up scratches and marks on a walnut countertop. I only had to use a very small amount. It dried quickly and matched perfectly.

I honestly didn’t find this to work better than scratch cover, which smells a million times better. Didn’t cover/remove/buff out any scratches or water marks- in fact you can see a million scratch marks added with the 0000 steel wool I used. Yes I carefully followed instructions. I mean the piece looks better than before (on the whole) but only marginally. Just not worth the smell. Also you’re supposed to wait 30 before poly which is not reasonable for my use which is a bathroom vanity.

I kept seeing ads for a wood restorer on all sorts of websites that sounded like just what I needed to revitalize my old wooden kitchen cabinets. After doing a little research I found it was a total scam item. A carpenter my husband know recommended this. No, it didn’t make my cabinets look brand new, but, it really made them look a lot better! I poured a little on to a rag and rubbed it on all surfaces (doors, drawers etc) whether it was still varnished or not. So much better looking. Took 10 years off there look. I highly recommend!

Dieses Produkt hat mir viel Arbeit erspart, weil die Auffrischung der Oberfläche eine vollständige Restauration ersetzt hat.

Our back door was installed when house was built. That makes it over 40 years old. The sun shines on one side of the door the first thing in the morning until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. There are several sun faded areas because of that. I used the Restor-A-Finish with 0000 steel wool then wiped it off with a clean cloth. So - it didn't cover the sun faded areas to match the rest of the door; but, I didn't expect it to. The sun fades are a little darker after application, and I'm good with that. Really don't think it's necessary to apply the product with steel wool. Think the same results would have occurred with rub on/rub off with clean cloths. After applying I waxed it with carnauba car wax. The inside of the door that doesn't get sun, turned out very nice. The sun faded side of the door isn't perfect, but don't think anyone is going to open the door and examine it. In other words what they don't know won't hurt them.I highly recommend the product for ease of application along with very nice results. Just have an open mind because it's not magic.
