The real Honeywell filters may be more expensive but they fit perfectly, they don't stink, and last the entire heating season instead of having to replace them monthly. I've tried the generic wicks in my humidifier and in the long run those aren't a bargain.

I have a Honeywell humidifier in the bedroom to keep the air from getting too dry during the fall/winter months. It can quickly drop to 25% or even 12% humidity when the weather turns cold.Last year, I bought a set of 6 generic filters that were a similar price to the Honeywell 2-pack. I figured the set of 6 would last a few years and I could save some money. I was so wrong! The generic filters each lasted less than a few weeks. I constantly had to check them and I ended up going through all six before the end of winter. I also noticed that when I used the generic filters, my humidifier didn't work as well. The humidity level hovered around 28% and I couldn't get it to go higher no matter what I tried.I got fewer filters when buying the Honeywell brand, but honestly, it's been much better going for the brand name in this case. The two filters have lasted me the whole fall/winter dry spell and have kept the room at a solid 35-56% humidity level (depending on if the machine is set on high or low). I also like not having to worry about the filter every few days.

The knockoffs tend to mold quickly and start to smell. This OEM filter works the best and keeps the room humid at around 40% humidity even on colder days. Some tips: Flip the filter each day. Do not attempt to dry the filter out, I have found that it can speed up mold growth. I typically just leave the filter in the humidifier with the water. Change out about every 4-5 weeks or when the filter starts to get very hard to the touch.I would only say that these are still fairly expensive at 11 dollars a pop and wish they were a little less pricey. Honeywell would probably get way more revenue by dropping the price of the filters which would allow them to be more competitive against all of the gross "ultrasonic" humidifiers that don't use filters at all.

UPDATE 1/30/22Well, the smell ended up getting to us. So, we ripped off the blue outer filter layer. Smell gone.UPDATE 1/24/22The Honeywell filter allows the humidifier to work at its best, giving an excellent quality air in terms of humidity. The humidifier came with an original all white filter in 2021, but that filter was replaced with this blue one when we needed another. When we got this blue filter then, it gave off the noxious odor we described in our initial review(below). We've tried 2 off-brand filters and they just do not produce the same quality air, nor last as long. So we tried the Honeywell blue again. There is still an odor, but it's much, much less. We are only using the humidifier now in the MBR, 240 sq ft with cathedral ceiling. Because of the odor, we only run it for a couple hours a day, and with the ceiling fan going. We run on the HI setting to get max moisture in the time.Because of the quality of the air it gives us and the relief from dry nostrils and sinus aggravation here in the desert southwest (naturally low humidity plus furnace in winter), we are content. This is still the best humidifier; sure wish they'd get rid of the filter odor!ORIGINAL REVIEW IN FEB 2021:The humidifier came with the previous all-white filter. That filter has now been replaced by one with a blue fiber over the white, main filter. This new filter gives off a noxious odor. regardless of whether the unit is running or not. The odor permeates the house, and aggravates my asthma. Have had to stop using the humidifier as a result, even though we love the humidifier. Nasty smell

This easy to install product fits perfectly and is a great price! My old filter was definitely ready, and I had not realized I was not taking care of the filter properly. Well the new filter came with all instructions including preventative maintenance which is awesome! Will buy again.

I love the fact that I can just order these online without having to look for them in store. This is the newer design and works better than the older model. Will definitely be buying these again

Nothing to say really, its a genuine replacement part and performs excellent! As expected. I always buy the genuine filters since i dont know how or which countries standards the noname brands filters are based on. Im sure they are all good but i spent the few dollars more to get the right filter for the otiginal system.

No, you're not looking at the wrong part; it still fits in your Honeywell humidifier that needs type C filter. It has a thin blue... fleece? Anyway, it's wrapped around your familiar-looking filter. It has the benefit of keeping its shape better; maybe filtering out impurities from the air better (although this is not meant to be used as an air purifier at all); and it seems to last a little longer than the older design. However, based on how fast I need tor refill my humidifier... I think it's a little less efficient at its job. No worries, it still works well enough. My nose still thanks for it.With regards to the top-rated review... ok, look. This is not an ultrasonic humidifier. The evaporative humidifier needs to be babied more. Clean it often. Change water often. Tray is even disherwasher safe, and for a good reason. Same with the filter; you need to rinse and flush, and flip it often if you want it to last. My filters last around 2 months (1 more than recommended, but it doesn't smell and doesn't look very discolored). Unless your house is full of untreated mold with spores everywhere, there's no way the filter should look like that. Not that you shouldn't care for ultrasonic humidifiers at all; they also need to be cleaned often, or the bacteria from the uncleaned tray will be aerosoled right into your lungs. You don't want that.Again, if you want the filter to last, rinse your filters and flip it after every refill! Run water through it and flush. Tap water is fine. Filtered water is better if the filter builds up gunk and discolors quickly. Clean your humidifier often. Be a good humidifier parent. Treat it like a pet, and it'll treat you well.

I was going to buy a cheap filter, but then you have to think about bacteria and mold etc. This one claims to be resistant to mold and bacteria. Time will tell. Item was a little tall for my unit, but it fit.

I don't know why ppl say it gets moldy, crusty etc. Ur supposed to flip it every time you put water in Ur humidifier. Mine lasted for months. Never got crusted once. Worked perfectly fine.
