We adopted a chihuahua puppy and decided to grass pad train him in addition to going outside. He took to these pads right away! We bought several different kinds but these are definitely the best. First, the grass is Sew into fabric mats so they are permeable, and also have closely spaced drain holes. You want the urine to soak through to the waterproof mat, AND, you definitely want the mat in a tray. With the cheaper versions, the pee was running off the mat as we lifted it up to clean making a worse mess. The pads are not 100% waterproof so you need the tray to protect your floors. We have 2 sets in different spots in the house and swap the pads and grass daily. The grass is easy to wash in the laundry sink with Joy dishsoap and the pads are thrown into the washer. In the pic, you can see a comparison of the cheap version (black backing, no edgetrim) versus this one (white mesh backing, trimmed edge). They are drying in a dish rack reserved for this purpose in the garage.

It took a bit of getting used to but my dogs use this now and it's SO much better than puppy pads all the time. This is saving so much money, definitely worth it if you have a little indoor pup!

Product works pretty well, but there are no replacement pads for the waterproof padding underneath so it doesn’t last very long before you have to wash everything

I honestly cannot believe what they charge for these. The outside frame around the mat is nothing but cheap plastic. I ordered only because I needed something on the patio for the dog to pee on. Maybe I’ll check the dollar store for a piece of Astro turf next time.

Love this mat for our back deck. Dave's us from having to take our new puppy out front at night. Very convenient. To encourage her to use it, we put leaves that she had peed on on top of the turf. It worked like a charm! She will not poop on it, however.

This product is great. When it is cold or rainy ny dogs use this mat. It is a backup if we stay gone too long or for the day they have an option. Highly recommend!!! At first, I thought it was a bit pricey. After receiving the product, it was well worth every penny.

Pros:-Everything described is present - 2 artificial turf mats / -absorbent mat / -tray-Seems quality madeCons:-Grass mats smell really awful and I was concerned of what they are made of. Not thrilled with my dog walking on material that smells weird like that. Washed but they still really stink … like farts to be honest.-As quality as it “looks”, very high priced.My opinion and experience: I got this because as my chihuahua gets older, winters are hard on her going out. Also, she hates the rain. Unfortunately, she is SOOOOOOO well trained, she refuses to go potty anywhere that isn’t outside in real grass - preferably her own yard. I’ve tried several tricks to show her it’s ok to use the tray, but she won’t have it. So it’s not going to work for us.

Potty training my 2 toy poodles has been an exercise in extreme patience. I've tried just pee pads alone which worked alright for a time, until they yearned to pee outside on the grass, and were then getting confused when needing to pee back on the pads inside. I don't have a fenced out area outside I can let them roam without running away, and in the latest Florida heat, I can't keep them out there for too long.These grass pee mats are the next best thing to keep them used to peeing on something that looks and feels like grass, from the comfort of inside the house! The package comes with two grass mats and a single plastic tray, as well as some helpful dog caring tips on a little sheet. Each grass mat has a bunch of tiny holes throughout to allow liquid to drain onto the tray, and both the grass mat and the try are easy to clean. Just take them outside, hose them down, and let sit in the sun to dry. For my own convenience, I also still keep normal pee pads between the grass mat and the tray, so I don't have to keep them hosed every day.
