This trap will work OK for cats, small dogs and possums. BUT not for Raccoons. They will tear it up. We bought it for cats and possums. Cause we caught a raccoon in one a year ago and it really screwed up the trap and of course got out

EDIT: The zip ties worked. The trap now helds the animal. As I stated, it took a zip tie every two inches all around the box to make it sturdy. The rod that is supposed to held the rear door, was repoussed as a release helper, just insert it on the cage, grab the release handle from inside, and pull from the back of the cage. For the front, I just insert a strong wood stick to secure while moving.ORIGINAL: This trap is flimsy. It can trap and keep a small kitten but not an adult cat on fight and flight mode. The rear door gave in. The skinny flimsy rod bent due to the cat's force and it was able to squeeze thru.So I took a bag of zip ties and when thru the whole cage, even the back door. However, there's no putting extra security on the trap door itself.I'm putting it to the test again. Version 2.0 with like 50 zip ties... See you next week.

Worked like a charm. Took two nights, but the Armadillo fell right into it, and was relocated unharmed. The inatructions are a bit hard to follow, but anyone can figure it out. There is no assembly required, just the trap door needs to be set. Dis not use any kind of bait. I funneled the trap to guide de Armadillo into it, per some YouTube videos, and it worked perfectly. My flowerbed is now safe. Size is perfect for a large Armadillo.

When I received my live trap I was so excited to relocate this raccoon that is steeling the cat food from my porch and my neighbors. I set it up right away and placed old bread with a little bit of honey and topped it off with some dry cat food. First night the raccoon sat in front of the trigger plate and reached over and took the food. Second night he triggered the trap and it’s now in a state park. I found out that where there is one raccoon there are more. I set the trap again and I woke up at 4:30 am and checked the trap and the raccoon got caught all right but it ripped the back door open and escaped. Okay I thought that was a weak point but what do I know, I’m not a trapper. I have some stainless steel wire that I will wire the door closed. All in all I’m very pleased with this trap.

I had been holding off posting a review since I hadn't had success for over a month despite using various recommended baits. Also had one incident of a large piece of bait (left overs of half a roast chicken!) being removed without catching the critter. A few days ago however I finally caught the possum that has been taking up residence in our attic so I'm reviewing now.My biggest gripe is that the catch that connects the plate to the door is poorly designed compared mechanisms on others I've used. Either the hook 'locks in' too much and doesn't trip at all, or it slips off super easily so that the weight of the trigger plate alone is enough to trip it without any added pressure, no happy medium... found it really difficult to set, especially in a cramped space like the edges of an attic where animals tend to traverse. Eventually I found stuffing a wad of paper towel under the pressure plate took off just enough pressure for it to not trip under it's own weight and still allow for the necessary movement when an animal steps on it. Then it worked fine.Despite this design flaw, still giving 5 stars since it was the lowest priced trap of this size by a good margin, the trip mechanism is not terribly difficult to resolve with a wad of paper towel, and it's pretty durable (not sure why some other reviews complain about this... I could likely stomp on it full out and it wouldn't collapse). Ultimately got the job done.
