You can spend a fortune for stainless rigs like this at marine stores, etc. This is an inexpensive, good quality rig for use around salt water where galvinized or other would turn into a block of corrosion in no time. Good product for the money.

The pulleys are a legit 304 stainless steel and have a nice smooth polished finish to prevent damage to the rope as it passed through the slots. The rope itself is a great quality smooth braid which I appreciate. I’m not one of those dudes out getting manicures and take pride in having working man’s hands, but I still don’t like needlessly tearing up my palms on cheap, rough rope when I’m hoisting a heavy load. The whole assembly is just well made with quality materials and a lot of well thought out touches that shows they put some thought into the design. It’s a quality product and worth getting for lifting light to moderate loads.

Product Reviewed: Hoist Pulley System Heavy Duty Stainless Steel for $44TL;DR; Shielded Ball Bearings; Smooth Running; rope fixture may lead to FrayingI keep a variety of pulleys around for block and tackle work and I don’t have a specific use case for this one. This is a nice piece of kit. The pulleys are all ball bearing on shielded bearings which means they can be lubricated with a drop of oil and should be able to be maintained indefinitely. The rope has a light feel to it, not heavy duty but very serviceable and has a smooth surface but is easy enough to grip. The body of the block and tackle is stainless steel and nicely finished. The load capacity rating feels about right in a pinch I think you could pull an engine with this thing. The one weakness of this system is how the rope is secured. It passes through a thin piece of Stainless sheet so the full tension of the line will be on a fairly narrow edge. I feel this will lead to premature fraying on that part of the line.4 stars with the one execution error noted above. Not cheap but I find something of this quality to be quite good value. How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

Blocks are heavyweight and well put together. The accompanying rope just isnt worth it. The exterior braiding of the rope began to separate from the core the first time a decent load. The blocks are available separately, get those and your own line. You will be better off.

I wanted to use this to hoist items from the floor of the garage into the attic above the garage.I didn't like the performance of this double block and tackle. Each block has 2 sheaves, but the sheaves are 1 solid unit. To be fair, the machining is nice, but the each sheave should be independent of each other because each sheave rotates at different rotational speeds. For example, since they are not rotating independently, when you pull the rope the sheave it is threaded through needs to rotate more than the other sheave in the same block. They can't rotate independently and therefore the rope that you're pulling will slide more across its sheave than the rope passing through the other sheave in the same block. Also, if something went wrong, I didn't want it to fall on my head. So I stood off to the side. When I did, the rope often jumped off the sheave.

Pulleys not independent. So...it tangles up. Rope jumps pulleys. A lot of friction. Constantly having to reposition rope.

Very good material , but the sheaves are one , not separate

If you are looking at this hoist, you've probably seen, or used, the kind which are made from aluminum? With some plastic parts, even? And, the ever-present polypropylene rope? And, now, maybe, you're looking for something more substantial? Stop right here. This one has actual bearings. Like in a real piece of machinery. Other than the 75-foot, 5/16", braided nylon rope, it's made from stainless steel. The material in the main frame is 0.105" thick and is 1.1" wide. The 304 stainless eyes are made from 5/16" material and the pulleys are 1.9" in diameter. The axle bolts look to be around 3/8".Compared to those discount store hoists, this one is a super-star. It's just way better. When using this one, you're not thinking, "Is this thing going to hold together?" Instead, you have confidence that it will. On top of that, if you appreciate well-built machinery, this thing looks good enough to eat. What's more, if it ever needs service, its parts are bolted together for easy disassembly, inspection and maintenance. It's a keeper.
