About this item

  • GET BETTER WIFI. Increase the speed (up to 1 Gbps) between your WiFi Router and Access Point by connecting one Coax to Ethernet Adapter to your Router and another to a WiFi Extender or Access Point.
  • TURN COAX INTO ETHERNET - INSTANTLY... Extend your wired network using your home’s existing coaxial cables. HTEM4 Coax to Ethernet adapters deliver up to 1 Gbps Ethernet speeds, ideal for 4K streaming, gaming, video calls, and reliable work-from-home performance.
  • STABLE, LOW-LATENCY CONNECTION FOR GAMING & STREAMING... Unlike Wi-Fi, MoCA uses coaxial cable — a shielded medium with minimal interference and lower latency. Get stable, lag-free performance with up to 3ms latency—perfect for gamers, streamers, and remote workers.
  • IDEAL FOR HOMES WITH CABLE INTERNET...Works seamlessly with most cable internet setups. Note: If your home was previously wired for satellite (DirecTV, DISH), your coax outlets may be isolated. MoCA requires that all coax outlets are part of the same continuous network.
  • PLUG N PLAY SETUP. Connect one MoCA 2.5 adapter near your router and the other near your device. No configuration needed. Includes 2 MoCA adapters, Ethernet cables, power supplies, and setup guide.
  • EASY TO EXPAND YOUR NETWORK. Add an additional HT-EM4 Ethernet to Coax Adapter to connect any new Ethernet devices in the future. Connect up to 16 adapters on your network!
  • INCLUDES TWO COAX CABLES. You will no longer need to go hunting for another Coax cable. This kit includes everything you need to setup and create a MoCA (Ethernet over Coax) Network.
  • CARRIER-GRADE TESTED & APPROVED by major Cable Internet Providers. Hitron is a trusted manufacturer of broadband networking equipment for Cable Service Providers like Comcast, Cox, and Charter.
  • COMPATIBILITY REMINDER... HTEM4 works with routers that do not have MoCA built-in — just add two adapters. Not compatible with satellite TV systems. For best results, ensure you’re using MoCA-compatible splitters and that coax lines are connected.
  • NOT COMPATIBLE with Direct TV, Dish, other satellite TV, AT&T Internet or AT&T U-verse coax networks. These services have frequency overlap and cannot be used on the same Coaxial network.

Product Description

Get Better WiFi

htem4 premium image

Get the Wi-Fi networking performance you need. MoCA Adapters transform your existing coax TV outlets into Gigabit Ethernet ports to create a multi-lane "super-highway" between your router and Wi-Fi access points. Faster speeds into your Wi-Fi Access points means faster WiFi out to your devices.

MoCA Makes your WiFi Better!

WiFi Mesh without MoCA

Why Your WiFi Gets Weaker

WiFi signals get weaker the farther they travel. When your device is far from the WiFi router, the signal loses strength, leading to slower speeds and sometimes even lost connections. Also, WiFi can be disturbed by things like walls, other electronic devices, and even other WiFi networks.

WiFi Mesh with MoCA

Boost Your WiFi with MoCA

MoCA boosts your WiFi by providing a fast, stable connection between mesh pods. Using existing coaxial cables, MoCA helps the pods communicate quickly and reliably. This high-speed connection means each pod can deliver faster WiFi, giving you better coverage and quicker internet speeds.

Plug and Play Set Up

So simple...just plug it in. No software to install. Plug one MoCA Adapter into your modem/router and an additional MoCA Adapter into your device (Wi-Fi Extender/Access Point, HDTV, computer or gaming system, etc.). Each MoCA Adapter connects to a coax wall outlet in any room.

  • No, the HT-EM4 is compatible with cable services, but not satellite services such as DirectTV or Dish Network.

  • Yes, Hitron’s HTEM4 MoCA adapters are compatible with any internet service provider. They work independently of your ISP and can be used to extend your network regardless of the service provider you are using.

  • Yes, HTEM4 MoCA adapters can be used in apartments or MDUs. However, it’s important to note that the coaxial cable infrastructure in these buildings can be more complex, with multiple units sharing the same coaxial network.

  • Virtually any device that has an Ethernet port, including Xbox, gaming systems, computers, streaming media devices and more.

  • You only need one HT-EM4 if you have a MoCA-capable broadband device. If your router does not support MoCA, you will need two MoCA devices, one for your router and one for the device that you want to connect to, a gaming console for example.

Important Notes

  • To create a MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) network, it is essential that all coaxial cables in your home are properly connected to the same coax splitter. If your home was previously wired for satellite TV or another service (other than cable), it’s possible that not all of your cable outlets are connected to the splitter. Before setting up your MoCA network, ensure that each room’s coaxial cable is connected to the correct splitter. For detailed instructions on how to check if your MoCA adapters are functioning properly, please visit the Hitron's Technical Support website.
  • Ensure that the RF splitter in your home is MoCA compatible. It must support the MoCA frequency band, which ranges from 1125 to 1675 MHz.
  • Many cable operators may bypass the main splitter in your home, connecting the external coaxial cable directly to the modem or router. If this happens, not all coax outlets will be connected to the main splitter, making it difficult to create a MoCA network. To build a MoCA network, ensure that all coaxial cables—both external and internal—are connected through the main splitter.

Some context: I'm a System Administrator and a handy man. Girlfriend wanted wired internet but didn't want me going around and running ethernet cables in the wall or outside.ISP: XFinityRouter Model: xFi Gateway XB6Setup: Router has Moca built-in (you can verify this by logging into the GUI / Admin Console and ensure MoCA has a green check mark). Go to a Coax enabled room, plug the coax coming out of the wall into the left port the Hitron device, this will enable the device to also have ethernet. Plug an ethernet cable from the Hitron device to an ethernet ready device like a PS5 or PC. If you have a cable box, you may plug that into the right side coax on the Hitron device, as this is a passthrough.Note: You can utilize this, plug the ethernet port to a PoE switch / PoE injector and connect access points to further extend Wi-Fi coverage.Review:As someone who values a robust and reliable home network, I recently added the Hitron Bonded MoCA 2.5 Adapter to her setup, and the results have been nothing short of impressive. BOTTOM LINEThese work great! I get full speed using speedtest.net (300 Mbps).BACKSTORYWhile I have a wireless mesh, I was having challenges with the reliability of the signal to my office. After many gyrations with the mesh configurations, I concluded that the only solution was to be "wired". However, based on the layout of the house and where the internet enters it, running Cat 5e/6 was going to be near impossible (without tearing out walls, a non-starter). So I started to research options and ran into MoCA.I live in 25 year-old house that has unused coax running to the office (I stream). The coax drop shares the same entry point as the internet provider's drop. I bought a cable tester to determine which line was "hot" to the office. I connected the Moca to a wireless satellite switch (main router in a different room) and was amazed at the speed and stability (initially). However, over time it (stability) degraded. I created a lab to isolate the problem and determined the MoCA devices were not the problem. After proving that the MoCA was fine and there were not NIC card issues, or cat 6 issues wire issues from MoCA to the computer NIC card, I had to conclude there was an issue with the coax. During my research I ran into a comment in passing, I think on Quora, where someone indicated that if the coax had a splitter it "might" degrade the signal. Using, this information, I traced the line and found the splitter in my basement and bypassed it. Instant stability! This lasted about two months until the weather changed and the attic heated up, then the stability issues cropped up again. I went into the attic and traced the coax line and discovered a second splitter. I bypassed it and have not had an issue since.AS AN ASIDEI use speedtest.net on Windows 10 with a Chrome browser and am getting my full bandwidth. I did download the Speedtest app and found it to be very inconsistent. I discovered that with the removal of the second splitter, the app was much more in alignment with the browser version's readings, but at times still inconsistent, typically slower than browser reading. I have written to speedtest about this and have not heard back.I was so pleased with the product, I bought a second pair of MoCA Ethernet adapters for my bonus room and connected it to my TV using a wireless access point switch. Using the app on Apple TV gives full speed bandwidth as well.UPDATE 2/18/2024I ended up having one more degradation "issue" and ventured back up into the attic and discovered a 3rd splitter. I removed it and now after almost 8 months and 3 seasons, Summer, Fall and Winter, there are still no issues. In fact, it has been very stable. I don't expect any issues this Spring as the temperatures in NC are very moderate that time of year.I was so enamored I introduced a switch into the mix and connected the Hitron Bonded MoCA 2.5 Adapter output to it and then connected my desktop to the switch with no degradation. I also did two ethernet cat 6 line drops from attic and connected them to the switch for future use. I later used one drop for my television only to discover the TV NIC was limited to only 100 mps. Apparently, this is relatively normal for most TVs Ugh! I added a satellite to my mesh network and am getting above 100mps via the TV's wifi nic.I did test the television drop with my laptop and got the full 300 mps.Back the BOTTOM LINE, still very pleased with the product.NOTE: both sets of the product are in climate controlled portions of my house not the attic.

I was reluctant, because I was not sure if it was going to work, but I figured I can try and see. Worked like a charm, and now, my Apple TV, Bravia TV are connected to the internet via the wired connection, thanks to this little magic box. Ethernet connections are on just a different level. Always on, always stable. What made this work?1. I have a four story house that is pre-wired for cable. I have actually two ethernet ports that have also been wired when the house was built, but one is in the basement, and the other on the attic, way too far from where most of the tech exists. So, having this device now gives me wired internet via ethernet in all the rooms (minus the bathrooms, of course)2. I use Fios, and the setup is fairly simple, and my internetbox has MOCA built-in, and I am using the verizon provided router, Verizon FiOS Quantum Gateway G1100 Wireless Wi-Fi Router FiOS-G1100 Dual Band.3. I am writing this review from work, and I wish I had the pictures to show, but basically, I connected the coax cable in the basement that feeds all the coax in the house to the fios router (G1100, referenced earlier), and all of a sudden, all the coax outlets in the house became ethernet ready with this Hitron device.I am getting the full max adverised speed, around 300mbps for both upload and download (before, I would get around 150 from my wifi router). Well worth the expense.
