Good product. I think the copper clamps could be improved upon. It seems too kludgy - too Home Depot Make-Do-ish .Bearings are of good quality. This is the only product of theirs that I have anything less than a glowing opinion of.

I was hoping that I could get away with using just one of these "blocks" on either side of the body of my robot project (one block per axle). Even though the copper straps hold two bearings each, there is not enough axial length between the bearings to take up any significant amount of side loading. After loading each "block" individually with ~8 oz-in, the blocks seemed strong enough at first but quickly loosened to the point that the bearings slip out of the straps with the slightest touch. Tried re-tightening the hold-down nuts but it doesn't make any difference. These probably will work fine if you use two blocks per axle with some separation between the blocks. User error? I guess so, but they're still flimsy. On the plus side, I was pleasantly surprised by the way they looked in my project; they added a sort of raw character. I'll probably either replace the straps with SLS-printed pillow blocks, or swap them out for some of those common 8mm ID steel pillow blocks. Edit: a stack of progressively larger washers between the copper strap and the anchor nuts helped to straighten out the contact against the beam, regaining tension on the bearings. Giving back one star because it's cool that MakerBeam took a chance on this clever, albeit hacky product (and I can't find any other COTS pillow blocks this small).
