For years I’ve searched for and built my own plyo boxes, but each had their flaws. However, this ingenious design is the best I’ve used thus far. The design is much more stable than I expected and a pleasant experience to use. The generous footprint (36 sq-in) provides a stable base that is rock solid even when used on carpet. In fact, the 2 Velcro strips, which run along opposing edges on each base, already provide additional cling when used on carpet. It also includes straps for anchoring the system with weights, etc. but I’ve had no need for them during my explosive workouts. Perhaps they’d become necessary when used on a slippery surface away from a supporting wall, but I’ve had no issues with stability even on smooth tile. Their rubber texture already provides enough grip, top and bottom, and their large footprint prevents any tipping.I also like that they are very comfortable to use. Being filled with air, they provide a nice damping effect when you land, but they are by no means bouncy or squishy. Perhaps the best way to describe their firmness is that they feel like heavily inflated car tires. The rounded edges are also forgiving. I have scrapes on my shins from mishaps while using other boxes, but I’ll never have such an issue with these. The included pump is also very powerful. The pump is larger than expected and provides a large amount of air with each pump. I also like that the pump keeps you from over-inflating the boxes by becoming noticeably and suddenly more difficult to please once the optimum pressure is reached. The valves on the boxes also work well, so no added air is lost when you go to remove the pump. The set also comes with a repair patch kit, but with the boxes being so durable, I can’t imagine the amount of negligence necessary to ever need a repair. Nevertheless, it’s nice to have.The fact that the entire set can also be deflated and stored in the included duffle bag is also a definite plus, if you don’t have the space to leave them out, or wish to travel with them to another training location. This highly recommended plyo box set is definitely a game changer.
