It's a good design idea, but I happened to get a defective one that has a gap between the grinding plates. Also, I was going for non-toxic and although this item says cast iron, it seems to be coated with white stuff. I Google it and Google says it is simply white iron, but it looks like there is some kind of coating. The item says coated but I am not sure if that means painted or seasoned like you would for a cast iron frying pan.

I try to make most things from home and this has allowed me to grind my own oat flour, cornmeal, coffee beans, you name it. I have only had this for about a week and I have already used it for so much and it has saved me a lot of money from having to buy more expensive healthy products. The materials are really heavy and high quality and it is easy to attach to the counter and use.

I bought it to make corn dough for tamales or Hallacas, it works as expected i use it just with corn so far so good, the set up was easy

This grain mill features a durable cast iron hand crank with a handle, an easily adjustable clamp. This works well, solid construction, I used it to grind small chaga chunks into powder works perfectly. You can use it as a nut grinder, dried-corn grinder, seed grinder, coffee grinder, or flour grinder. Great value for the price.

Crank handle bolt was drilled way off center making it hard to use had to take flashing off just to get parts to assemble
