On first glance, I didn't think this mask was doing all that much, but after a few miles on the stationary bike, I was wrong.Just using the first setting, you could tell that your air was not what you expected.I will definitely incorporate this as part of my workout from here on.Oh, and it works with facial hair, also

This high altitude training mask is ok, just ok.The fit is a little awkward and uncomfortable, so I can only use it in short stints.I do not feel it has a huge impact on breathing, however I live at high altitude, so perhaps this is why.If you are in a tight budget this would be a good mask for you, however if you can spend a little more, there are better options

I love this high altitude workout mask! It has many benefits and is multi purposed. It's great for training your lungs for whatever fitness goal that you have, whether you want to hike in a high altitude environment and get your lungs ready for the adventure, or you simply want to challenge yourself and just make your lungs stronger. I will be using it for working out outside in the cold and running. I am trying to train for a half marathon that is in the mountains so I want to be ready for it! This mask helps to keep all the cold air out of my lungs. This has a nice silicone seal and is very comfortable on my face. It doesn't leak when it is fastened securely, and there are three air settings on the mask that ranges from beginners to expert. You simply put the mask on, put your ears through the big holes, and then velcro the straps in the back. The mask actually looks pretty cool on and it doesn't look overly goofy or weird. This is not a cheap or "wannabe" high altitude mask, this is definitely quality! This mask makes me feel kind of tough when I wear it. I highly recommend it!

I wouldn't call this an altitude training mask by any means. However, it probably could be considered a type of respiratory training device or a kind of hypoxia training max. There are three difficulty settings, adjusted on the front if the mask. I couldn't tell a difference on the low setting compared to room air. The middle was akin to wearing a protective mask and the difficult setting is the only one that caused a super small dip in my O2 saturation levels. It basically lowers the oxygen saturation by having you rebreathe your own air, and then you start hyperventilating a tad, which makes your lungs work an eensy bit harder. The first thing to go when I exercise is my lungs, so I'm still hoping that breathing differently while wearing this mask will help with endurance. The mask fit my face comfortably and absolutely made me look like a video game character, which I admit is a fun bonus. I personally don't enjoy masks that fit using velcro because I have long hair that almost always gets caught in the hooks, and this one did exactly that. It does, however, clean up quite easily with a quick wipe so it doesn't smell like stale air the next time you use it. The materials aren't that robust so I'm skeptical of longevity, especially if someone uses this mask while doing any intense training.

This was hard to figure out at first, the straps didn't fit well until I figured out the right way to wear it, then it fits alright. Kind of hard to get on at first. Should hold while running and training. However rather than just restricting air, it also just kind of makes you rebreathe your own air, so I guess it's doing both restricting flow and restricting the amount of new oxygen you get, which is the point, but I feel like isn't the best way as if you aren't breathing strong enough you might just be rebreathing too much air and suffocate. I doubt that could happen with what limited space is inside the mask but it's enough that I was a little offput by how it works. Maybe this is how all high-altitude masks work but if so I had no idea. I hope it doesn't make me sick or do some sort of harm rebreathing spent air.... no matter how much or little it is.
