It's made beefy, I'll give it that... But that's about all I can say good about it. The top is much higher than any other tool holder I've ever had that a 1/2 inch parting blade sits 1/8" below center with the height adjustment all the way down. Will be returning because I don't want to make my setup less rigid just to fit this or spend a whole weekend grinding down the holder. I'll just order something from a different company.

I ordered this because research suggested the 4 degree one that came with the toolpost setup I also bought would not work. Confirmed in second image. I will try and mill a step in it to lower it so it can be used, but we'll see as the part is very hard.I couldn't tell when I ordered it, but there is no taper for a tapered blade (first image) in either the stock holder, or this one. There are also no slight grooves top or bottom to keep the blade from popping sideways. If one made a groove, then it runs out of room for the wedge to go back and clamp down, so that's a non-starter. Fear not though, I parted off a 2 1'2" bar with this and despite the lack of lateral holding, it did just fine! A horizontal holder is needed for big stock as the 4 degree will rise as slid forward and with it buried deep int he job, it's a blind exercise to set center height.Used it though on a 1" piece of cold roll in a mini-lathe, and it went through it like butter. 2 1/2" took longer but worked.
