1/4 20 tap would nut in in soft aluminum, I grabbed an older tap from different maker and it cut perfect

This combo set looked like it could have done the job but I ultimately decided returned them to Amazon. I was specifically looking for a set that was made in the USA and while the description leads you to believe this is such a set I believe that only the index was made in the USA. The white box packaging that these arrived in had a country of origin of China stamped on it. So, I'd say the index (holder) was US made but the taps and drills were likely manufactured in China.The set of drills and taps would allow the following threaded holes to be created:6-32 NC8-32 NC10-24 NC10-32 NF1/4"-20 NC5/16"-18 NC3/8"-16 NC7/16"-14 NC1/2"-13 NCIf you're looking for something other than US tools then this set might be the right fit for you. It is less expensive than true US made but I'm not sure if it is any better than cheaper imported tools.

Made over 30 taps on 1/4 in hot roll steel wth the 3/8 tap. The tap look like the day I got it. Very happy with the results and very happy with the performance and it still standing up quite nicely.
