The hard shell case definitely offers protection to the paddle. However the extra room is a bit too much as you can see from the photos. For example, I can even fit the entire paddle with the soft case in this hard case. Without the soft case, I would worry that the paddle may slide too much that the rubber pad gets scratched. Also, there’s a strong scent that smells exactly like new car tires.

When I read "hard shell" I think of a case that doesn't give at all when you push on it. I did a search for "hard shell" items, and there seems to be no standard. Some of the items are made of hard plastic, which is what I envision. Others are similar to this case and are sort of hard, but will give a bit when pressed.I wish there were padding in addition to the outer shell. Even my cheap case that came with my paddle (see photo) has half an inch of dense foam on both sides, and actually provides much decent protection for the paddle compared to this Rintifia case.The product description says this case will fit two paddles, but it's a tight fit and the paddles (especially the handles) will rub against each other because you must have both paddles facing the same direction, not one up and one down. If you try to put the paddle on the side with the mesh band, it's a really tight fit from top to bottom.I think this mesh side is meant for something else, but there's really not enough clearance when closed to carry balls, for example, without denting them. So I guess you could carry wrist bands or a resin bag or something on the mesh side.The price is decent compared to similar products. If I had a premium paddle to protect, I'd definitely want a true hard-sided case made out of molded plastic. But I just have an intermediate paddle that I value enough to protect, and this case will do that.Note that this case, like similar products made from these materials, has a very strong chemical odor. You'll definitely want to air it out for several days before using.
