I was hesitant to buy because of the mixed and low reviews, but I've used this for a few days now and am pretty happy with it. You will be too if you keep your expectations realistic. An underpowered drill, and it won't work. Too high of a speed setting, you'll break your wrist. Slow and steady with a good drill and nice dry wood, it works pretty well.

Doesn't split even small 3 in logs. Binds up really easily. Truly worthless.

I try whit a 1000ft-lb 1/2 impact gun supply @ 125psi steady flow amd this device cannot split a maple log. And the log is already split and 2 yrs old dry. So i try to split the 1/4 maple log and it is just impossible. It us probably made for softwood. Don't loose your money

For this to work properly you need a big, strong drill. You basic Dewalt or Milwaukee drills won’t split much wood before they burn up.

If you're reading this, disregard 90% of the bad reviews you just read to get here. This works perfectly fine as long as you keep a couple things in mind.1. It does not contain an Ifrit, Dryad, Wood Nymph or any other spiritual being that will pop out and magically split the wood as soon as you drill into a giant log. It works on the same principle as driving a wedge. If you hammer a doorstop-sized metal wedge into the old oak tree out back, does the tree split in half or explode into kindling? Probably not without the Ifrit, which isn't included in this splitter either.2. It does not suspend physics. If you drive a screw as far as you can into a loose piece of 2x4, then flip your 18v drill into reverse and grab the trigger, you're probably going to wind up with a bruise somewhere. Believe it or not, the exact same principle applies to this.Just picture hammering a smooth version of this into something. Would the piece of wood split, or would it become hopelessly buried inside? Just because it spins and has threads doesn't give it any special splitting properties, it's still using basic wedge physics. If you're ok with all of that, I think this thing is pretty nifty and works well. I use a cheapo 18V cordless from Bal Wart and it does fine.

Didn’t work very well. Took many tries. Would get jammed. Not sure if my drill is powerful enough or bit isn’t effective.

This product does not work like they show you in the video all it does is make holes in wood does not split the wood like when you use an axe to split! My husband is disappointed in this product! Hooked it up to his drill like it said just makes holes in wood

It took a log or two to learn, but this works best with your drill on it's low speed setting. I was using it on high, and not only did it not work very well, but it was burning my batteries out quickly and I nearly snapped my wrist a couple of times. Once I put my cordless drill on the low speed setting, it chewed through piece after piece of firewood, like butter. I'm thankful for this tool and will continue to keep it handy.
