I bought an HP-12C many years ago. I needed a second one, and it is just as good as the first one I bought. It is still an amazing calculator.

I’m very happy that this calculator is still produced. The Platinum Edition has a faster chip, but is the same calculator that I used in business for many years. It’s particularly good for amortization and for calculating true interest rates, and computing payments. Great tool for a very reasonable price!

Vecchissimo prodotto HP, quando l'azienda era al primo posto nell'innovazione. Funzionalissimo, resistentissimo (lo ho comprato per un backup del mio HP 10C, che ha almeno 30 anni di attività; ma quello nuovo quanto durerà ?). Copre tutte le esigenze del calcolo finanziario (ma l'altro modello è fondamentale per l'ingegnere ed il matematico, en géneral. Il principale minus è che non stampa. Occorre anche dire che ciò e' meglio per evitare distrazioni con i calcolo, dovendo scrivere su carta i risultsti dei tuoi conti. Difficile da digerire il data entry per i calcoli: la "notazione inversa Polacca". Io mi sono abituato imediatamente, a suo tempo. Ma quando ti sei abituato ad usarlo, non ne potrai più fare a meno. Io ne avevo naturalmente un altro. Disperavo fosse ancora in vendita. Per fortuna "Amazon c'è !!!". Non sorprende che sia venduto ancora in Germania, dove in calcolo è una grande necessità. Congratulazioni Amazon !!!

I’ve been using HP 12c calculators for over 25 years. The one I’d been using for years finally played out. This replacement fits the bill. The keys are easily pressed and provide good feedback. All financial functions work well. A must have when you’re away from a pc or app

I bought my first HP 12C calculator 40 years ago. I still have it and it works and looks like new despite a lot of use over the years. The classic 12C model holds the record for the calculator model that has been in continuous production longer than any other. Today's gold 12C calculators are faster than my first one, but not built quite as sturdy. Still they are the best financial calculators on the market. The platinum model adds two things to the original: (1) support for algebraic input (the input method pretty much every non graphing calculator other than those made by HP use) as well as the classic RPN input and (2) four times the memory for program storage. I don't use the algebraic input; RPN is faster and easier once I got used to it. But the extra program memory makes it worth having the platinum. If you're not going to do programming and are willing to dive into RPN then get the classic gold HP 12C and save a little money.

While the Platinum version (made in the Philippines) has better keys than the recent versions made in China. The "4" key on the one I received only actuates about 50% of the time (even when it provides deceptive, tactile feedback). Therefore, it is pretty much useless. If only I could go back in time to 1985 and buy five of these for future storage.

Zu meiner Schulzeit waren die programmierbaren HP-Rechner der letzte Schrei. Die Voyager-Serie, zu der der HP 12c zählt, kam 1981 auf den Markt. Zu dieser Zeit schaute ich als Schüler in die Schaufenster der Bürobedarfgeschäfte, die aufgerufenen Preise machte solche Rechner nahezu unerschwinglich. Immerhin, ein Mitschüler hatte einen HP 41c. Den HP 12c ist nun seit 40 Jahren (!) in HPs Sortiment, andere Rechner werden von SwissMicro nachgebaut und weiterentwickelt. Diese lange Zeit ist ein Beleg für die Qualität, sie waren ein Quantensprung, nicht zuletzt wegen Programmierfähigkeit und RPN. Und jetzt kommt der Wermutstropfen: Genauso durchdacht waren die Handbücher, damals in Ringbindung. Sie dienten nicht nur der Bedienung, sondern auch der math. Problemlösung. Heute werden eine Schnellanleitung und das Handbuch auf CD mitgeliefert. Eine Schande. Dies ist natürlich keinesfalls dem Händler anzulasten. Ein bis heute hervorragendes Gerät, aber traurige Sparmassnahmen. Ich hätte für ein beigelegtes zeitgenössisches Handbuch gerne mehr bezahlt.
