I had to reverse engineer the latching system so that the fail safe works on it. It wasn't put together correctly internally. The solenoid pin was put together backwards and the spring was on the wrong side. When the latch was supposed to engage, it would open and when it was supposed to open it engaged. I would have returned the latch for a replacement but I had to make sure my business door was secured at night. I couldn't wait for another day to get the replacement latch and spend more money on armed security to watch over my business during the night.
