Stays in my clarinet’s bell. Can take it out and pop it open in a jiffy. It feels sturdy and my instrument quite secure. Easy to close back up and do it all over again. Thumbs up.

The leg extenders don't have any locking mechanism to hold them out in place. They will stay in place of the stand is left stationary. But when you are inevitably asked to move your stand (or if someone else on stage moves it) then it is quite common for one of the leg extenders to be pushed back in when being moved, and this means the clarinet will be precariously non-vertical. Another gripe is that this stand pushed the center of gravity up about 5cm, which combined with the previous issue of the leg extenders being easily pushed back in, results in a significant risk of being tilted over. I have used this for several years and have had too many close calls that I would just advise people with valuable clarinets to avoid this particular model. On the other hand, at least it is light and compact.

I picked this stand because it slips into the bell of my clarinet and stores easily in my case. The legs have a velvety material to protect the end of my bell from damage. It did take a while to get the knack of collapsing and expanding the stand, but I've got the hang of it. Maybe if I had longer fingers it would be easier to expand and fold back up.I've had no issues with it being unstable or sticking to the clarinet when I remove the clarinet from the stand--perhaps those who experience this have a different brand of clarinet. For reference, I play a Buffet R13. Nor have I experienced a stand collapse. I always make sure it is completely expanded until it clicks before use. I feel much better about leaving my clarinet on the stand that leaving the assembled clarinet laid on my open case perched on my chair.I like my Hercules so much I bought another one for my A clarinet (it fits both Bb and A clarinets).

I've never owned an instrument stand before. When I did play, in middle school on into high school, it was drilled into our heads by directors that instruments, when not in active use, were to be put away in their cases, safe from harm.Fast forward too many years and I am trying to relearn. My Clarinet's cork is old enough, and was used very well back in the day, that I do not wish to inflict more wear and tear than necessary. What I really like first and foremost is that it's stable even on carpet. I have medium pile carpet in my home and when this stand is in use my instrument does not feel in danger of tipping over because the center of gravity is supported by extended legs. I also really like that it's travel size, and when closed it fits nice and flush into the bell of a Clarinet and does not hinder the bell within its resting place in the case. It's quick and easy to set up, soft main supports to allow the assembled weight of the instrument to sit on the bell without damaging or scratching the underside. The healthy habit of putting an instrument away when not in use is ideal, but this stand is excellent to prevent undue wear and tear, and when resting the instrument during concert performances rather than utilizing your lap or case. Makes me wish I had it for just that reason back then.

Great portable clarinet stand. Very sturdy, supports the clarinet well and reliably. Love the way it folds up and stows in the bell. The orange top piece can be a bear to pull back up if you push it all the way down, so since this is for my 11-year-old I just told him not push it down so far that it locks into place. He just uses the clarinet case to keep it pushed inside the bell.

I had a devil of a time getting it open the first time, and still have some trouble closing it. However, I am hoping that will pass with time - it just seems stiff. It does hold the clarinet very well (on a level surface) and does fit nicely in the bell in the case. I have not had it stick to my clarinet, but I am playing a Selmer Centered Tone which I think is a touch larger bore than "standard." And my "A" clarinet is also a bit larger bore. With those complaints, it is still the best store in the bell stand I have seen.

I do not frequently review items that I purchase but this item did not dissappoint. I was looking for a small portable stand for my 10 year old son's clarinet. It needed to be sturdy and convenient. This item does not feel cheap or flimsly, it feels solid, and is made of good materials. It holds the clarinet firmly, I am not worried it will fall. It opens and closes easily and has a soft outside when closed so it will not scratch the inside of the clarinet bell. It fits perfectly in the bell. My son enjoys its "transformer-like" qualities. I was very happy with this purchase.

This is a very clever little stand that goes into your bell without sticking out when it is stored. Once you get the hang of opening and closing it, it's not too hard to do. It took me about ten minutes to get it open the first time. Make sure you pull the legs completely out when you assemble it.It does have a tendency to stick to the bell of the clarinet when you are taking the clarinet from the ground. This is a deal breaker for me, and I probably won't be using it much, especially when I have to make quick changes from A to Bb clarinets.
